Barclays also do a 'basic' account with contactless - and the best mobile app of all the banks I've tried. No overdraft facility but in every other way a 'normal' account.

It's possible the OP didn't meet the criteria for the flexaccount and automaticvalluy got offered the flexbasic, which only charges for overseas transactions and non-sterling transactions online.

Alternatively the Barclays basic account can have a contactless debit card issued on it.

It was the other way around actually - tried Flexbasic but "did not qualify" but got normal Flex which is good.

Sorted anyway so thanks a lot.

The Monzo prepaid card is contactless, entails no credit check or fees and will be delivered a day or two after your initial £100 deposit. Sign up via the MSE link to avoid the queue:

I'm not quite sure what the point of that response was.

However, I was out of order and I apologise.

Thanks but I was looking for a current bank account with contacless debit card - not a prepaid card. But perhaps someone else will find it useful

I realise that you need a proper bank account, but you already have one. You can use its debit card to top-up Monzo instantly at any time, to have contactless. Anyway you have a solution already.

Get a Curve card, and link it to your Coop Basic account.

They've been accepted for a full current account (FlexAccount) with an offline contactless card..
