Blue badge parking
I have just qualified for a blue badge. I have looked on the information supplied and various web pages but can't find the answer to my query.
The street outside my doctors has restrictions on parking during certain times of the day, allowing permit holders only.
My question is can a blue badge holder, park during the restricted times.?

CPZ's for residents parking are set up by local councils.
Most of them allow Blue Badge holders to park during restricted hours.
Try a web search for the rules of the parking zone that is local to you.0 -
Not sure if this might be any help:

It does say in the sections where you can/cant park that spaces reserved (for residents or loading for example) are generally places you can't park however it then goes on to advise you to check with your local authority as some of them exempt blue badge holders from these restrictions. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
if it's just time restricted parking, ie a single yellow line with no parkign between specified times, then you can park there with the badge displayed. But it's a lot more nuanced than that, have you got a postcode of the drs? we'd be able to see the signs and markings0

I'd be asking whomever issued the blue badge. AIUI it varies from authority to authority. Didn't they issue guidance with the badge? (Safer than asking on a forum).0

Took the in laws on holiday and MIL had a blue badge, i was so unsure of what was allowed in the area we were in i only used it once and kept thinking will i get a ticket when i return.
Only used it the once, safer to drop them off and then go and park elsewhere and then go and bring the car back to them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Do not park there,it's for permit holders only. There should be a disabled bay close by.
A parking attendant advised me(eastbourne)that I could not park in an area for permit holders only.Nice guy could have but didn't give us a ticket, just waited 'til we came back.0 -
From https://www.newcastle.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-transport/parking/disabled-parking-and-blue-badge-scheme/how-to-use-a-blue-badge. The badge does not allow you to park anywhere. You are meant to use it when parking on the street in either disabled bays, or normal bays that have a ticket machine or parking meter. You may also use it on yellow lines for up to 3 hours if there are no loading restrictions and you are not causing an obstruction and the badge provides exemption in on-street permit parking areas. If you park in any other type of bay you will receive a Penalty Charge Notice.0

Received a reply to my enquiry from council. Blue badge holders can park in the bays during the restricted times as long as they display the blue badge.
The reply did point out that this was the policy of my local council and other councils could differ.
I think this strange as I would have thought that standard national rules would apply, after all it is national scheme.0 -
My OH parked in a permit zone in Leicester a few years ago, displayed her Blue Badge but ended up with a Penalty Notice anyway, on appeal was rejected as it was "permitholders only" even though there were no Disabled bays or single yellow lines anywhere nearby. I guess different local authorities have different local legislation on the issue.0
