Sofa delivery

Hello

Im abit worried as I have a sofa delivery but my door is only 84cm and the sofa is 99cm so technically it won't fit through the door. Do they angle it in a certain way to get it through the door?

It depends what measurement is 99cm. Your door is pretty standard so you will probably be lucky, sofa delivery men know all the tricks.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

    What about the red line?
As long as that is will fit through your door you should be OK.

Try making a small model of the sofa and the doorway. If it only fits by lining up square, that might not work if the hallway is too narrow. I heard of someone having a sofa delivered on the same day as double glazing being installed, so they could pass it through the window frame.

    P.S. Sofas are also squidgy.

The only Dimensions I have are height - 90cm
Width - 208 cm, depth 99 cm. I know the door is fairly standard 84 cm

Do they not teach pythagoras's theorem at school any more? To make it easier, assume both the height and depth are 1m. Then the diagonal of a right angle triangle with those two sides is 1.414m, so half that (the red line in EssexExile's drawing) is 70.7cm. Which is less than 84cm...
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.

Whilst re-furbing a maisonette by Lords Cricket ground, the builders were still on site with a very high crane. The maisonette had hall and bedrooms /bathrooms on the entrance level and a narrow spiral staircase to the lounge/diner/kitchen level. I got the site manager to allow the crane to drop the settee on to the balcony and took in into the lounge.Often wondered if they ever moved out! Well it came in so it must go out!!

My theory is . If the sofa is sold by a shop it is highly likely it will fit through a standard door frame... otherwise the shop would be forever having them returned.

In your situation I'd put a jug of cold water, a few cans of pop in the fridge and have the kettle on. When the drivers arrive offer them a brew/can at end of job. Tell them you think it could be tricky. Clear the corridor of shoe racks etc, take coats off the back of the door and leave them too it.

I have moved house a few times an din here with a 'beast of a sofa' not designed for small bungalows and the removal men were highly skilled and twisting it mid lift and again turning it to get the sofa through. I imagine your delivery guys do this often and would be ok.

If you are really nervous phone the shop and ask them.. just a simple..do the delivery men usually get this sofa through a standard door..and then if necessary upgrade your delivery to 'a room in your home' not just your address.
