abundant I love your post on energy depletion, it's all about listening to your body, pausing to work out what you really need.

misstara glad the meeting went better than expected, they can be so soul draining.
mrshubbard good news on the maternity clothes. Airport vist sounds fab. I've only passed through. DS2 needed surgery on some scar tissue at Wythenshaw and they wanted us there by 8am. By catching the first bus towards the station (next town up), a train to the airport and then a bus working it's way back to Manchester, we made it.
Lauralozzle shame about the overtime payments but they will be there next month.
thrifty yum to hg veg. to DH, they just don't get it. My ex was out of work after being made redundant. He insisted he 'needed' new shoes (there were 3 pairs in the wardrobe). He came back with two pairs because they were 'so cheap' - having just spent the equivalent of two weeks food budget.
Calling spending a little to save a lot sounds good. BF is back? Can we expect more wining and dining adventures.
indigowarrior my mother had me out cutting up tree branches in that miserable weather - I did come in when it was pouring.
PlaysNicely excellent use of your stores. I am quite proud of nearly finishing the balsamic vinegar (bought in HB for the Christmas before last - thought it was smooth enough to substitute for wine in my favourite mushroom recipe). I ran out of cider vinegar and the cheaper ones weren't available, so have been happily using up the balsamic.
Florence J Hope the return to work goes well. Remember to keep looking after yourself. Stop and take a deep breath when it all gats too much.

Came on here before 7am yesterday to do catch up and dozed off - repeatedly - until about 11am. Luckily the little table and laptop stayed in place all that time and didn't fall off the bed. Got a stiff neck from sleeping sitting up though.
Sunday was aspend day. Went to do mum's shopping but needed a couple of bits myself. Was working my way through the main shopping street with the intention of buying the bulky stuff at Icyland and having it delivered. In and out of shops as didn't know who would stock some of the things. Got part way, gave up and bought what I could from HB and stork like freezer shop.
12 litres of milk plus other things evenly distributed between two bags and the 'heavy' stuff on my back (12 glass bottles amongst other things). Stopped for a breather at the last bench before home and an old man asked if I was alright.
Monday was so glad to have done the shop as it was pouring down. Took what I had bought + some crafting stuff in a taxi to mum's (4 bags + rucksack). Big job of day was sawing off a branch that was coming towards the house and making the doorway and path dark. Got my old laptop up and running.
Yesterday I found my pruning saw (gets to places the large bow saw can't) and did the remaining shopping on my way to mum's. Lots of small trips into the yard to tackle a dead branch and finish off the large branch - came in when it started to rain hard. Lots of leaves brought back for pressing - wanted to ask the man in the house facing if I could have one of the heads off his hydrangea (glorious deep pink colour) but mum said wait until he moves in. He's done the painting, a van of furniture came at weekend, yesterday he was putting up curtains - mum gives me a running commentary.
Came home both days when I got to constantly nodding off. So tired but quite happy. I have been pondering how my everyday 'happiness' and underlying depression can co-exist. It's fairly simple, I am doing what I can and by focusing on th elittle things I am happy and even joyful.
However at a deeper level I am aware of 'things left undone', healthy baking day has been repeatedly postponed, I want to write to my cousins updating them on mum's situation and thanking them for their support, I need to contact a couple of work people and get things moving.
I think I am working up to my current limit (fall asleep if I lie or sit down) so I will have to be satisfied with that and keep adding bits, as and when I can (eliminate all the 'shoulds' and 'oughts').
Once again I have so many things to be grateful for. I am having a day off from mum's today as someone else will be there - I have gone the past two weeks as she was ill. For the support of the turtle gang. For the crafts club, the organisation that hosts it and for being able to manage lots without money. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hello,
Had the dentist this morning, £10.88 for a filling. Just love the dentist here, not only do they numb your face for just a filling, you even get your gums iced before the needle. Bliss. In Germany they just drill (might be different nowadays). So funny lopsided face this morning. But as it was already a SD anyway I got just the two super essentials, bread and ham, as I have nothing left for DS lunch on Friday. BTW she wanted to offer me a private white filling for 70 quid on my second molar that no-one sees anyway. Think not.
Freezer and fridge dregs curry tonight (found some ancient chicken pieces, chopped peppers that I had forgotten about). Our cupboards look seriously bare for a change. We usually have up to six boxes (SM ownbrand, mind) of cereal on the go, down to one now. Will make do till Friday easily, DH already thought yesterday "we have no food" and was then quite impressed with dinner. Will plan my next weeks shop now more carefully to keep the momentum of creative cheap cooking going.
Hopefully get my washing machine fixed tomorrow, Just got it in April and the door broke last weekend.

C and our visitors have gone off to meet some old friends today but I'm having a "day off". I really can't manage going to the pub and eating out every day. So I've caught up with some tidying and made Spanish chicken for dinner for when they eventually get back. Had everything I needed in the fridge or freezer.
They've been really great. Took me to order a new washing machine (got a really good deal - just what I wanted with £210 reduction) which is coming on Wednesday or Thursday and some things that we needed for long standing repairs to the house (strip light for kitchen, etc) which are more difficult to access without a car. Another neighbour did two loads of washing for me last night and said she'd collect anything else I had to do tonight, She also came in with a home made cheesecake because she knew I had visitors. I love my neighbours.
So a quiet day and no money spent. Hope you're all ok. Catch up properly at the weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Afternoon all
Monday & Tuesday = NSD numbers 7 an 8
Today was a spend day
So just putting this out here... Has anyone into fitness tried low carb diets before? My food bills are pretty high because of all the meat I'm buying. I batch cook when I can and freeze, but it eats up my budget. Any tips?
Today I am grateful for:- Helpful advice at the gym
- A lovely cool breeze and the rain the last few days... I'm with Mothernerd, find it easier breathing when it's cool too though...
- I do love the sunny days too - so thank you for those!!!

Another crazy day at work. Haven't made my steps since my 10k on Sunday, haven't exercised apart from cycling to work as I've done evenings/ tonight is OH's exercise night. Tomorrow yoga and then drinks out. I've managed to nab a lift home but it's at 10.30pm (at least that means I probably won't have more than one drink). The summer budget is working well. I'm up in Scotland for a week right at the end of the month so I have sent the petrol money to OH and I'm 'keeping back' the money for the week. It will be a cheap one as staying at my sisters and will be eating in and doing beach/Park visits. But I do want one night out with my sis and will be going to the gym a couple of times -she is sourcing free 'trial' passes at several places for me
Keep going everyone!!!

Grateful for ....
Only one school day left until the HOLIDAYS - Leicestershire breaks up
early and goes back early
The motivation to drag my sorry butt to the gym (the motivation was eating one of the almond and coconut iced buns I made for the kids) and getting rid of an extra 400 calories.
