Credit score & TV/Internet bill in flatmate's name

Hi everyone
This is my first post on the forum and I'm hoping someone out there may be able to help me
I am now responsible for paying the bills in a flat I share with 2 others. All of the bills have been transferred to my name except our Sky TV/Broadband, this is paid by me but had to remain in a previous flatmate's name to avoid a hefty cancellation fee. If my previous flatmate has a bad credit score, could this affect my credit score when applying for things in future?
Thanks for reading!

Your credit score is affected by the weather as much as by anything on your credit file. Hence the need to ignore it.
What you need to be aware of is your three credit files, and anything that appears on them.
You are not financially associated with your flatmate just by paying the bill. You would need a joint financial product for him to impact you.0 -

Why was the onus for bill payer on you? I hope your other 2 flatmates don't run up bills and then do a runner - leaving the bills still to be paid and in your name, thus meaning if you didn't pay them your credit history is the one that will be trashed.
Would it not have been easier to have the bills split? e.g. electric's in one person's name, water in the 2nd flatmate's name etc.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0
