Are TalkTalk Trying to pull a fast one (or two)

Hi

Recently upgraded to Faster Fibre, which was a no brainer as it was £5 less a month than my normal broadband, but which actually is not fibre all the way (I know it as EFM – Ethernet First Mile or, copper to the box) despite being unable to find anything identifying the facts on their website. If it’s there, it’s well hidden.

Anyway, this is not the issue I’m referring to.

During our long winded webchat for the upgrade, I found you had to ask for things which should have been automatically included and then had to challenge the answers given. Apparently, I was not able to carry over discounts on our existing boosts and I had to find the info on the web and send the extract to them for them to go away and “check”. And, lo and behold, yes I could.

I had to ask for my free SIM card to be issued.

All done and an email was sent through confirming the order which included a £50 charge for the “free” connection. I challenged this and, after another time away “checking” and, yes, I was correct and the charge would be removed.

Imagine my excitement when I received my first bill since the upgrade – yes, it has the £50 connection charge and so I’m convinced the sales team are urged to try it on and if they get away with it, as I’m sure they do, so much the better.

Now I have to go through the mill to get the charge removed.

Be warned.....
