As usual, "buyer beware"... I don't know about Plusnet, but in general watch the following tricks which catch the unwary:

    1. Coverage, at home, work, your favourite pub, etc, check if necessary with a PAYG before entering into a contract.

    2. Check the small print for out of bundle charges, some charge the proverbial arm and a leg for exceeding your minutes or data. There is supposed to be legally enforceable price capping, but many networks ignore it.

    3. If you need international roaming, check costs and countries included in "free" roaming. EU on some contracts excludes IOM and Channel Is for example.

    4. Do you need tethering? Not all contracts include it.

    5. Price increases aren't usually much of an issue, but check what happens at the end of a 12 month contract, if taking one as opposed to a 30 day one. With some (Three) the contract usually continues at the same monthly rate, in the case of a "good deal" it can continue for many months beyond the minimum term. The old "One Plan" from Three was discounted to £15/month from £25 and continued at that price for over a year after the initial term ended.

    Good luck!

Plusnet uses EE for a good UK signal, abroad I am not so sure. Free roaming in the EU (if a signal) on all bar the £5 tariffs. Plusnet allows a price cap of, say, £2 so no unexpected big bills. Plusnet allows tethering. It's a one month contract so can switch or negotiate if prices go up.

Passing a 3 shop yesterday I saw an advert for sim-only, all you can eat calls and texts, with 4gb of data for £10 a month. I assume it was a 12 month deal.

I've always been slightly wary of 3 because of phone compatibility issues and worries about coverage, but it sounded like a good deal.

ID network (carphone warehouse) are doing some good deals between at the moment in the £5-£10 range with roll over data and 30 day contract, they piggyback off the 3 network.

That deal is £9 a month online (12 month contract) with £45 Topcashback. https://www.topcashback.co.uk/3-mobile/

    Hi McClane54,

We’ve got some SIM only plans which I’m pretty sure will fit the bill. If you follow this link http://shop.ee.co.uk/sim-only/pay-monthly-phones# then hit the ‘Help Me Choose’ pop out bar on the right hand side of the screen you can see what SIM only plans we have available. J

    Thanks, Jenny

I'm pretty sure they won't fit the bill, your prices are a joke and you didn't offer a cap on call costs the last time I asked.

Three prices are £10/month for unlimited mins and texts, 4GB data
EE are £11/month for 250 mins and 250 MB of data :rotfl:

    No thanks!

    Frozen_up_north,

You may have just clicked on the main page rather than clicking the ‘Help Me Choose’ option from the side of the page. If you click this link it’ll give you a more personalised option for a SIM only deal.

    Thanks, Jenny
