I really should update my diary more often
Have so far done two days of work at my new job. I'm learning a little bit but feel like a lot of it is going straight over my head. Coworkers seem to be very nice and have all been very friendly and helpful so far. This job is completely different to my old one, so it's going to take some getting used to. But the work days are flying by super quickly so that's great. I was worried that it would be a bit of a drag as this job is much more slow paced.
As far as money goes, have had to buy a few more work clothes, shoes and such, also a couple of nice things just for fun. Still need another pair of pants and maybe another cardigan, a shirt or two but that's about it. They do have a uniform shirt but only one girl seems to wear it. There has been no talk of ordering anything for me so I'm not sure if I should say anything. At the moment I am quite enjoying wearing my own clothes. But I'm sure that will get old pretty quickly.
I can't wait until I'm settled in with this job and can work
Not sure how much exactly I've spent. I got a gift card as a going away present from my old work so I used that for a lot of it. I had money put aside so should be fine. Don't want to play in bank accounts tonight though. Already got paid for two days of work from new job, now just waiting on final pay to come through from old employer so I can sit down and do some number crunching.
Have got high hopes of possibly finishing my $10,000 Emergency Fund by Christmas but will just have to wait and see at this point. Stay tuned.
Shares from my old job arent showing as avabaile to be withdrawn. Will give it a few more days and then call them to see what's going on.

Night night!

Well I am a dumb@ss. My computer had a meltdown and I had to reinstall my whole operating system so I lost my beloved spreadsheet    among other things, but everything else was pretty much junk. Of course I didn't have anything backed up. I probably could have managed to save the files if I'd really tried but it just wasn't worth the bother for one thing.
Luckily I mostly remember how much money I had in each category. Now I just have to rebuild the spreadsheetWill do it on an online one now instead so that it saves automatically and you can access it from anywhere.
Also I dropped my phone flat on its head this morning and cracked the screen. Again I am an idiot because I took the case off it because it got really dirty and gross and I didn't bother to replace it.
I'm going to return some clothes that I've decided I don't want, so hopefully that will be enough to cover the phone repair. So cranky at myself.
In other news, work is going okay. I am slowly picking things up but it will be a while until
I fully understand what I'm doing.
Today was payday from old job and I have no idea what my actual payment should be so I need to ring tomorrow and get my final payslip.
No $$$$ updates due to spreadsheet currently under construction. Must give up on it now and head to bed, it's getting way too late! Am struggling a little with my new schedule. Feel like I have no time to do anything. Must try and be more organised.0 -
NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Not the spreadsheet. That is devastating.Mortgage started at £318,000 in June 2016. Original MF - 2041

We all feel your pain0 -
Let's all have a minute of silence for my spreadsheet. Speaking of which, I still have not managed to work on.
I am exhausted. Thank god tomorrow is Friday. Going to try and have a really cruisy weekend and get myself organised with a bit of meal prep and the like. This is the first time I've really worked full time since I moved out on my own. I worked more back then (and far more ridiculous hours) and it was fine but I feel like I'm barely handling it at the moment working an 8:30-5:00 job. And I used to go out after work and then start at 7am the next day and other ridiculous shenanigans. I don't know what's wrong with me
I don't know how those of you with kids manage to work full time. I guess you do what you've gotta do to survive, but damn it must be hard.
Now off to bed!0 -
Happy Saturday morning, peeps. Finally got my spreadsheet sorted and all my money put into its various categories.
I can't be bothered to type out my individual figures, but in total I was able to put $1034.35 to my Emergency Fund this fortnight! New total = $3559.35 / $10,000
Still need to suss out my final payslip to see if that's all I'm getting paid (was expecting much more, wondering if I'll get the rest next fortnight??) and also need to figure out how to cash out my employee shares.
Also need to work on full budget breakdown for my new pay amount.
Hopefully today will be productive. About to hang one load of washing on the line, and hopefully many more.
Edited to add: Also need to sort out bank account situation. No idea how I am going to work my accounts now. I use my credit card for some things and pay it off straight away. Although I earn lots of point on it (it's a fancy schmancy card that I was able to get through my old job as a work perk for free), it's also kind of too much trouble than it's worth. I don't want to get rid of it, but I'm considering just pulling it out of my wallet and shoving it in a drawer that way I can't use it when I'm out and about. It definitely leads me to spend more.
Annnd last point for the day: I won $20 on a scratchy that somebody gave me as a going away present. Not sure what to do with it. Thinking perhaps put it in Xmas fund as damn that one needs some work or there won't be a Christmas. :wall:0 -
Oh no! to the computer/spreadsheet and phone!
However, very well done on having the know-how to get it back to usefulness, think how MS that is. :money:
Also great that you got well over $1,000 more in your EF. It's really growing beautifully. And so is the Christmas fund, it just has a little way to go to catch up.
Any news on the slim payslip? Could it be an emergency payment while HR gets your details sorted out?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hey Cherry. Got last payslip today. Unfortunately the amount I was paid is correct
I get paid fortnightly but they only owed my for one week of pay and I didn't factor that into my initial calculations.
Anyways, not to worry. Work is getting better as the days fly by. I can't believe how fast it's going
Weirdly enough, I've ever mentioned on here what kind of job I actually do. Not really sure why. Anyways, I guess now's the time. I used to work in banking but now I work in a financial planning firm doing an admin/assistant sort of a role.
Money-wise, I returned about $100 worth of work clothes that I wasn't totally sure about. Still do need some work stuff but unsure whether to spend the money on that or to repair my phone. The phone will need to be done eventually. I just don't want to drop the cash
Anyways, better be off to bed. Goodnight everyone0
