Hello Diary! Long time, no chat.
Just read through my last post and am chuckling at myself about the diet (still weigh the same as this time last year) as well as the thought of getting a second hand oven. I ended up getting a rather expensive fancy one but definitely don't regret it whatsoever. It's a great oven. :rotfl:
Anywho, I am back with some goals for this year.
By the end of 2019 - I want to get my Emergency Fund to $10,000 (currently at $5,000 - I guess I spent a lot on renovations last year as I made no progress on this )
Short term - I am going to save up $1500 extra to put towards my mortgage. It comes off fixed rate at the beginning of March and I am going to refinance to a new bank and reduce the term. I hope to go from a 27 year loan to 25 year :j and my interest rate should be lower so I hopefully my monthly payment will be a bit less. So far I already have $300 to put towards this.
Other little goals/resolutions:
- Be more careful with grocery shopping. Cook more and eat take away less. Take lunch to work every day as much as humanly possible. Don't drive home for lunch or go out.
- Stop spending money on homewares. I really do have enough of this sort of thing now. I can reel it in.
- No renovations this year, although painting is acceptable. No new furniture etc.
- Post in my diary here every day (or close to that) to keep myself accountable and on track.
These small efforts will free up $$ for other things that I want to do, such as go on a cruise/some kind of holiday with my bf, have more money to spend on clothes etc. I am lacking in the fashion department, which has always bothered me as I feel much better and am more productive when I feel that I look good. I always felt guilty spending money on clothes but no more of that silly business.
I think that's all for now. Talk more tomorrow!0 -
It’s pretty quiet at the moment so I am sitting here at work thinking about stuff I could sell to get some extra money.
So far I’ve come up with selling a floor lamp that I hate as well as my old iPhone which needs a screen replacement but otherwise okay. I will put the lamp on FB marketplace and the phone on eBay
I also have some clothes and shoes to get rid of, but I’m not sure if it’s worth selling these or if I should just donate them. Hmm.0 -
Payday yesterday
added $300 to put towards the mortgage. Up to $600 now! Yay!
Have been doing really well, I have taken lunch to work every day since I started back after Christmas0 -
My poor diary
My laptop died and I didn’t buy a new one so I stopped coming on here. I just wanted to say that I reached my $10,000 savings goal :j
So...now I am saving to buy a house
I am going to make a fresh new diary.0 -
