Cancel BT broadband mid contract

Hi
BT will not offer to downgrade my broadband or offer me any other kind of discount to reduce my monthly bills. I want to switch provider but do I have to pay the cancellation fee to BT? Which is approx £170 😬. Any tips to get around this charge?

If you are within the minimum contract term, and it sounds as if you are, then unless BT increase prices, you either need to see the contract through to its end as you committed to do, or pay the penalties to end it early.

Bankruptcy or death I believe are your 2 options (not that I would encourage either!).

Aside from that, you are dependant on 'goodwill'.
