Can you park at the airport if you're not flying?

Sorry, wasn't sure if this should go in 'parking' or not, but no fines involved... yet.

I am travelling within the UK soon and need to leave my car for several days in a secure car park. I've had a look through NCP, as I usually do, and the nearest to my destination are those at Heathrow - but I'm not flying or even using the airport.

There was nothing I saw in the T&Cs to suggest you can only use the car park if you are flying.

Has anyone done this, or does anyone know of an alternative?

Ta.

  • No. Cars don't fly!

Yes, but check other places as well
  • You don't have to be flying to use the car park. You'll probably want to take the free shuttle bus to the airport and pick up your bus or train from there.
  • As you go through the booking process they usually ask for flight details so just pick a couple of scheduled flights to coincide with the time and dates of your parking and pick up.

I travel by air six or seven times each summer and have never been obligated to give flights details when I book online for the official car parks. I just put in my arrival time at car park and the time I wish to leave and pay the fee.

as I tend to stay at a hotel at the airport the night before it wouldn't help the car park metrics at all as I would be arriving a day too early!

i have left my car at the secure airport car parks and my friend has picked me up from the car park. If you are booking on line some car parks do ask for the flight numbers, it helps explain if you are late back to your car.

You can certainly park without flying, but it's hard to believe anyone would want to when airport parking, particularly at Heathrow, is one of the most expensive places to leave your car. I'd definitely investigate other option before deciding on the airport.

I think flight numbers are so they can have a shuttle bus waiting to pick you up when you've collected your luggage. Tel them you've chartered a Lear jet, and aren't sure when President Trump will be finished accepting your advice.

Second (and third) the fact that you can do it but as intimated above, check the price as it has increased significantly recently.

Give us a bit better clue about your actual base point, and somebody may be able to suggest better alternatives. Heathrow-but-not-airport is not really an area that anybody spends time unless they have to. Even the surrounding towns are going to have MUCH better alternatives.

Have a look at the off site parking facilities around Heathrow.

I use off site parking at Gatwick occasionally as it is much cheaper than on site parking.

You get a shuttle bus to and from the car park and the terminals.

I presume similar are available at Heathrow.
