Recommnend supplier who will bill me monthly for my actual usage?

I am finding it difficult to find a cheap supplier who will send me a monthly bill for my actual usage instead of a fixed monthly DD which always works out more than I have to pay!

Any recommendations?

When I was with FU I could have opted for a variable monthly DD based on my monthly meter readings.

I prefer an even DD throughout the year as my consumption varies between around 200kwh a month (about £25) in the summer and can go up to 1500kwh/month (£180) in the winter. I find it easier to pay around £70 every month which balances out at the end of the year.

There are suppliers who will do this but they are usually very expensive.

I would suggest you go for traditional payment quarterly on receipt of bill. (which can still be by variable DD if you like - will save a few more pennies in many cases compared to other payment methods) Will still be expensive, but not quite so as it's only 1/3rd the amount of work for the supplier, cost to receive payments, etc.

You can easily find these on most comparison sites by setting appropriate filters.

My daughter sort of did this in a rented flat. Set a lowish DD, then submitted monthly meter readings where they gave her a current balance. She then collected money from the others and made an additional payment. It meant they got to the end of the lease only owing about £10 each.

British gas bill monthly for actual usage based on the meter reading you submit. They however collect a monthly amount which is checked every few months.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    With which supplier?

I don't understand how this works out more expensive when in the long run we all have to pay the metered amount - I just want to be on top of things and don't want to over or underpay.

British Gas are just the worst company I have ever dealt with. They caused no end of avoidable problems with my last switch - and even when everything was sort they decided to send me a huge bill for gas I had not used then informed OVO that their meter readings were incorrect causing OVO to bill me incorrectly. It was just unbelievable.
Luckily OVO were very understanding and I emailed them a photo of the meter. British Gas were not. I will move from BG at every opportunity.

It costs more because of the extra administration involved in sending out variable monthly direct debits. Most suppliers are happy to bill you monthly provided you submit monthly meter readings. I accept that this can mean that a credit/debit balance can accrue. I monitor my usage/costs on a 99p app called Meters so I know where I stand day to day. If I think that my usage is slightly higher than it was previously, then I just put a small additional amount of money to one side to cover an increased DD at the review point.

A lot of companies will bill quarterly for actual usage. It is no more expensive. (but obviously you need to ensure you have enough money after winter!)

e.g NPower, SSE, EDF etc. (the last 2 you need to phone up after starting a contract to get it changed over)

Iresa used to do monthly I think, but they aren't taking new customers on

Used to submit monthly readings to SP and generate automatic bill.
Then used the option to adjust the online DD amount accordingly but the account would need monitoring as SP would re-set the monthly amount.

Utility Warehouse have option to do variable monthly DD on submitted readings.
