warning of resurrected threads ?

I've spotted a couple of instances in the last 24 hours where a newbie has come along and added a comment to a thread that is several years old, thus bringing it to the top of the pile again.
I added a comment to one to point out that this was the case, but it won't have stopped others doing like I did and reading the first 30 odd old posts before realising how out of date it was
Is there anything that can be done to either stop old threads being resurrected after a certain time has passed or to warn readers that this has happened ?
perhaps something like the spam button which would then display a warning to other readers ?

I have noticed a few that have been dug up but it seems there is a time limit of about 2 years with no new posts after which they get locked.
Thing is they can lay dormant for 1 year and 364 days but if someone bumps them then it is another 2 years I think before they get locked.0 -
If it adds to a thread, or takes the discussion forward in some new/material way, then I don't see a problem with it.
However if its a simple hijack or some random Newbie pleading ignorance, despite having clearly confirmed understanding of how the board works, then there should be no quarter.0 -
Totally agree with pogofish.
We're very happy for old threads to be bumped up by new posts - there's a huge wealth of info on this forum and much of it is timeless, eg the fab tips on the Old Style board.
By all means, though, if you think the person posting hasn't realised some old deals etc are out of date please help out and let them know.
