I've experienced this on many occasions.

Too good for the job you went for; don't get the job they want you to go for, usually because of one tick box. Always a bizarre "why??" feeling left behind. And all you really wanted was "a job", "the job I went for"....

The difference for him was that they offered him the job they wanted him to go for despite his shortcomings on experience (they wanted a minimum of 2 years, he has just over a year). The role is a step further up the chain, the department he would have been reporting to had he got the job he applied for.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Ah, I misunderstood.

I thought he'd not got it.

Think that was more to do with how I typed than anything else...my brain was only partially working at the time :rotfl:

"Managing to excel at the worst traits".

Only you could have said that, Pastures! :D:D

I was going to say, at least you excel at something, but not having SPD I decided not to. ;););)

Thinking about You versus the SPD thing, Pastures, I'm not so sure, because you do, on here at any rate, appear to get jokes, including satire and irony.

In truth, you often crack satirical jokes yourself.

I think my issue on that single part is slightly different... I "see the funny side" of everything after my mind's made a couple of tangential twists... and/or I remember something and keep harping back to it "for a laugh" ... but ... while that might be OK sometimes, I do it all the time as I'm no judge of right/wrong timing or appropriateness.

I make connections that others don't, or won't, or can't ... and that's where it all falls apart. Especially as I just "blurt out" my mind's 2-part-tangential twist on everything that's said.

My stuff, too, while mildly amusing, does tend to be "very simple" stuff... just tossed in. It's never clever funnies :)

What I say ... is what gets me in rucks with people ... that whole "somebody was forever offended" thing is what happens to me not occasionally, but with almost everybody, everywhere, every time, every year, since forever :) And I've never had a bl00dy clue why :)

    A made up example:

    Phone rings... I answer.

Person: OMG, my mum's just gone in an ambulance to hospital as she was trying to throw something at the neighbour's cat to shoo it away and she fell off the step and tumbled down into the garden!!

Me: Well, she won't do THAT again will she!

Person: How can you say my mum deserved that? I hope you get hurt and break your leg. You're nasty.

    Me: I didn't say that!

    CLICK.

That last example is just a warped sense of humour, plenty qualify.
