There are many teeth in a mouth ... if we round that up to 30 and say "just £2k/tooth", that'd still be £60k.

    Even at £500/tooth it's £15k

    At £11k for four, it'd be £80-89k

I think we can put me into the group of: Happy to eat soup, mashed potato and custard.

Maybe 3D printing will bring down the cost of the manufacture, so then you're just paying for "fitting time" in the future. I bet the whole manufacturing is a huge part of the cost.

You wouldn't need them all replaced, just the missing ones!

Indeed. My mad uncle lived in Piddletrenthide for a while. It features in the title of his second autobiography:

I want to know all about your mad uncle! :j

He sounds like my sort of uncle! :j

I do envy you, having a lovely bookworm Aged P, and now a mad uncle as well!

I can confirm that 3D printing is bringing down the cost. Last visit to dentist he fitted a printed filling for me. I think it cost £60 compared to £80 to one manufactured by a dental technician company. It's not an implant, as it's just attached to the actual tooth, but it's one of the further back ones and well over half the tooth.

When I started getting a lot of tooth probs I enquired about implants, and saw the dentist at the practice who specialises in them. He said that I'd got bone loss in my jaws, so I wasn't a suitable candidate.

    I love wifi printers!

I'm in bed, in the front bedroom, tapping away on my iPad, and if I want to print something, I tap print, and the printer starts whirring away all the way downstairs in the back room! Magic!:)

Now, if only someone could invent a wifi way of replenishing the paper or changing the ink cartridge when I am similarly snuggled down upstairs! :D

To be fair, it does sometimes go awol, probably due to interference from a nearby signal, and then I have to reboot the router to get the wifi connection back. That can be a bit of a pain.

Our current router has a USB printer connection, so we don't need a specifically wifi printer in order to access the printer wirelessly.

  • Hello, I try to be nice! I'm new and can't work out how to post a new query. I want to ask if Topcashback PLUS membership is still worth it - they seem to offer 5% extra bonus when a retailer is not already offering an exclusive deal - but I'm not sure what that means! Apologies for any duplication, but have TPC recently changed their rules on this> Any advice on where to post or directions to an existing thread greatly valued, many thanks, yours, Andrew

Pastures, have you thought of getting a water flosser? It might help stop the gums receding any further. My oral hygiene has improved immensely since I started using one.

I use a plug in one, but you may prefer a rechargeable handheld one. There are lots around, including some under £20.

Could you have the front engine running in forward and the rear engine going in reverse?

    ROTFLMAO ;)

    I suspect not, however.

I don't even know if those engines will run backwards, unlike some bubble cars which used a reversible engine to get around the requirement of no reverse gear to qualify for being driven on a bike licence. If you wanted to reverse you could turn off the engine, flick a switch and restart the engine running backwards - resulting in no forward gears but three reverse ones.

Far more sensible than the ones that had no reverse gear and a front-opening door - woe betide anyone who parked with the front too close to an obstruction :D

My brother has set Aged P up with a wireless printer that monitors its ink levels and emails the supplier to send more ink when they're getting low.

Probably. Aged P likes getting to know all sorts of people, as long as they're happy to speak slowly and clearly (because his hearing is not what it was) and repeat themselves patiently when he gets in a muddly sort of mood (usually when he hasn't been getting enough sleep).

If you want to know more about the mad uncle, you can read his autobiographies - the second one was the one I linked to, and the first one was called "To Antarctica with the Royal Navy".

I'm afraid I've no idea about Topcashback. You could try posting on the discount codes and vouchers forum. I would imagine the people there would know about such things. If you go there and look on the right hand side of the screen a little way above the list of threads, you will see "Search this forum" and if that doesn't find what you want, you can click on "New thread" on the left, just above the list of threads.

    Good luck.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
