Entering a house that smells of coffee would have me either walking back out the door straight away or throwing up on their (probably) very nice carpet.

Me and coffee do not get on.

    Nor me.

Some time ago I was at a Christmas party at the school I was working at - a posh-ish sort of dinner. At the end of the meal they served coffee (which I declined) and a plate of small chocolate-covered objects was put on each table. Thinking that they might be mints, I took one, put it in my mouth and bit it. It was a chocolate-covered coffee bean - a truly vile surprise. :(

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Eugh!

I have the munchies but nothing munchies worthy in the house to consume....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

You're quite right. It's a prank. It looks just like a piece of orangey-coloured salami sausage sliced in half.

    Are you sure?

    :D:D:D

Maybe that's why wolves howl at it.... they are just hungry.

Or maybe the man-in-the-moon just fancied a change from green cheese.

Regarding smells in houses, scented candles would put me off as firstly, I don't like the scents, and secondly, I'd be wondering what they were trying to cover up.

    I have learned something today........

I googled green cheese, as I started wondering why the phrase "the moon is made of green cheese" came from, and the term "green" is not so much due to the colour of the cheese, as its youngness.

New cream cheese, without all the whey squeezed out, is termed "green cheese".

If you look at some wheels of cheese, they do look a bit like the moon.

May have been obvious to some, but not to me. It might take a while, but I get there in the end! :D

"A Taiwanese hiker famed for posing in her bikini on mountain summits has died during a solo trek. Gigi Wu is believed to have died of hypothermia ... "

    Reported on yahoo.

As part of my house-hunting/area-checking thing I joined several local facebook groups in areas that were on my list.

One I was nervous about in any case as it's adjacent to heathland and last summer a lot of the area was evacuated because of the fires... and some were arson. So it was already at the bottom of the list.

Next came the reports of "feral gangs", so I was aware of their area/movements.

Then there was a serious knife crime reported there four days ago (ex-bf & knife/kidnapping incident).

Then its final nail in the coffin was two days ago when a group of ferals were running round the park area smashing car and house windows - and somebody had their relative's house "fired at".

So that's one whole area to not continue house hunting in! And, probably some of the adjacent area as some of the ferals were named as living in the adjacent area.

It's so difficult these days, in the lower price brackets, as feral families on benefits can afford to rent more expensive houses than I can afford to buy (which was the case with the feral I had a run in with last year that's since moved!).

BUT..... at least I don't live in this place (although a friend of mine does).

Still finding some very peculiar properties for sale out there. First I look "in budget", then I look up to £25k over budget ... just in case there's something on at £10k more that might be perfect and "drop just in time" so to speak.

One oddity today was a regular little bungalow that'd been over-developed ... I blame the glossy mags.

They had an exceedingly long/corridor like conservatory taking up most of the small garden (14'6"x10'9"), no dividing door between that and the lounge, which had a log burner - it also looks like they had a light tunnel in the ceiling (at a guess). Hideous (to me) dark grey carpet the length of both those. Bold wallpapers.

Then, outside, from the conservatory you could see "something odd". It turned out to be a 2-storey tree house (right up against the boundary with roof windows that'd overlook the neighbours and stairs/balcony) - bet the neighbours love that... AND ... a smoker/oven properly built in the garden (2 storey, brick built, with proper chimney etc!). Both those had to go to retrospective planning and were allowed.

Did it tick any boxes: Price/no, Location/no, Garage/no.... hideously overpersonalised, no floorplan, conservatory was just "weird".

    :)

Max housing benefit is based on 30th percentile rents, but if your budget puts you in the bottom 30% ....

The only options seem to be:
    a) Look for a smaller house in a nicer area (which I think you are doing), or
    b) Move to a cheaper part of the country (which you don't really want to do).
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
