Maybe the correct response is to gather your belongings, stand up, stare them in the face and say "I am making like a tree ... and leaving. Nobody wants to work with the sort of people that think this is an acceptable way to conduct interviews for responsible jobs."

    Then go.

Monkey puzzle tree - that's another one :)

Actually, maybe I am a monkey puzzle tree ... as I can't be worked out, or understood - and yet I'm there, "awkwardly".
Monkey puzzle trees are seriously spiky and thereby seriously lethal.

    Is that you?

    I say noth-ing!

I'm afraid so, :(, although it is slowly getting better.
I reckon it'll have been a full three weeks, though, from start to finish. :(:(:(

I wouldn't mind, but it seems to have been the only thing I brought back from that disastrous and expensive Xmas holiday. :(

I tell a lie..... I did bring back what I thought was a Madeira cake, but it turned out to be a local fruit cake thing. Apparently, the Madeira cake we know is a Victorian English invention, and not from Madeira at all! Oh well, that bit of knowledge might come in useful in a prize quiz one day!

I've never actually been close to one; just seen 3-4 over the years in people's gardens. There used to be one where my bus passed on the route to town, so I used to see one often, but not close up.

Well, don't try climbing one!

I think they are supposed to be a very, very old species of tree.
Maybe they had to defend themselves against marauding Brontosauruseseses.

    Edit..... yup.....
    QUOTE
The tree was alive 200 million years ago and rubbed shoulders with the dinosaurs. Its spine-like needles acted as protection from ancient grazing animals now long extinct.
It can live for 1,000 years and grows to 50m high with a trunk diameter of over 3m. Its large seeds, pinones, take two years to mature.
It grows on the slopes of rocky volcanoes and its bark is fire resistant, so ‘islands’ of trees can even survive lava flows!
    UNQUOTE

It's been dubbed a living fossil, and is apparently on the endangered list.
Not sure why, as it is no longer under threat from dinosaurs.

Actually, if you planted some around your boundary, that would stop the ferals climbing over your fence.

You might have to wait a thousand years for the full effect, though.

Nope. Cancelled everything. Bought new wallet. Gradually filling it up as the replacement cards arrive.

Not sure why, as it is no longer under threat from dinosaurs.

It can survive wildfire and volcanoes, but not extensive logging (in Chile and Argentina, where it comes from), or aggressive harvesting of its seeds. It also doesn't do well with pollution.

Humans - so much more dangerous than dinosaurs. :(
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

We bought one of those little Poinsettias from Morrisons 2 years ago. It was about 20-30 cms when we bought it. I just measured it, and it's now 1.2 metres tall. Time to re-pot it, but it's doing so well as it is!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
