If you like that, GDB, you'd probably like this book. (Skim past the few passages that are explicitly Christian. There's plenty in there that's applicable to those of any faith or none.)

Also, I thought of you, GDB, when reading this recently:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007OWRBL8/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

You've got me there. I see a problem, and I keep wanting to solve it. I'm definitely in favour of cutting the Gordian Knot, rather than sitting down with Alexander the Great and sympathising. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I'm in a clique! It's a clique of one! It's a unique clique!
I love :eek:0 -
If I stumble across a cheap walking stick (say £2 or so) I'll be buying it and taking it to viewings with me. I won't go out of my way to find/buy one new.... although it's not car boot season, so fewer opportunities to spot one.
"Nobody's going to hurry along a woman with a stick" I figure .... and I don't need to feel hurried as they'd be too polite to say "hurry up love, I've not got all day". They'll just smile and bear it0 -

Seriously, GDB, read the book. It will help you to understand what is going on when you and a woman are talking at cross purposes to each other, without either of you being "wrong".Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Not all of them. You need to look for the less well turned out shops. I can think of at least three slightly more shambolic shops in my near vicinity.(I just lurve spiders!)

I'm not sure I've ever come across this talking at cross purposes thing. At least, no more with men than with women.
Some women can be very hard to get through to!
On holiday, I got snapped at twice by the same woman who took objection to me saying things (in a very nice way, I hasten to add, not patronisingly or anything) that were aimed at trying to help her.
She was the same person who made a very unnecessary remark about part of my anatomy. (Not an 'intimate' part!)(I just lurve spiders!)
