Well, she could be a single-parent of teenagers!

    :(

That's not what the developer's woman suggested.... gave the definite impression of "lives alone".

Teens aren't necessarily bad though - my first neighbour here had a 13 year old daughter; never heard her, rarely saw her leave the house; quiet as a mouse; decent.

Boys are the worst I think .... noisy !!!!ers up to mischief and ball games.

Families who live on a public bus route that goes to her school pay a fraction of what we pay for the dedicated school bus and they can still use the service on days when the child has an after school activity, whereas I have to go and fetch DD.

This happened at DS2's school. One year a group of mum's decided that their kids would travel together on the public bus and it worked out fine.

No - the grand-daughter is 2-3 doors along from me.

Next door is a "no show" so far; mortgage problem at the last minute, so it's not completed... "single woman ~40s" ... which could mean anything from somebody quiet and reserved like me ... or a party animal h00ker type who loves her lambrini and loud conversations on the phone in the garden .... but no kids.

Ah, I see. I've just scrolled back up the page and seen the information I needed in one of your posts... with "EDIT" preceding it. I must have read the unedited version, so thanks for clarifying. :)

In my house it's definitely the girl who makes the noise - no ball games, but lots of music, whether that's playing her favourite bands or practising her guitar and singing. My boy, OTOH, is most often to be found silently engaged with a computer that has no speakers, so although he can hear it with headphones, it's not audible to anybody else.

Loads travel to DD's school on the public bus. She would too, if we lived on a route that would make it work for us. Oh well. I remain convinced that it was the right choice of school for her, and I always knew the travelling would be the one disadvantage. It got a lot easier at Easter when she decided to give up her one weekly after school activity, so I only have to go and pick her up occasionally. All her other extra-curricular stuff is lunchtime, so no transport implications, apart from drama, which isn't connected to her school, and is within walking distance of home.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Since I moved here, I've had 9 changes of neighbours in my immediate vicinity .... plus now I'll be getting 9 new ones. That's a LOT of change of neighbours in 3 years.

18 new lots.... for somebody who "becomes anxious/unsettled through change" that and a whole 9 months of change/development going on just 12' away has been a little unsettling. It should all become "less changeable" in the coming months.

It's weird today, going from a closed site with portacabins, machinery and piles of materials at weekends .... to seeing a line of parked cars.

Think our last change of neighbours was a good 5 years ago, a family at the start of the close. Next door to me has changed once in 19 years and that was around 10 ish years ago.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I moved here 6.5 years ago. Lovely neighbours moved in 5.5 years ago and are now moving out again. Everybody else in the street (17 houses in total) has been here since before I arrived.

It is mostly the private renters who move, for a variety of reasons....

Although there have been two owner/occupier sales in 3 years. Both of those wanted "a different kind of house", houses that gave them more functionality than they got here.

This is why a lot of people don't "bother to get to know new neighbours", they'll bugg4h off soon enough.

Here there are now 8 renters and 5 owner occupiers. When I moved in it was 7 & 6, but one kept his and rented it out.

New dev is 2 renters and 7 owner occupiers.

All 17 houses here are owner-occupiers. They're 4-bedroom family houses - so I suppose that makes them more likely to be someone's forever home than the little houses where you are. Next door have moved so as to have period features (which she has always wanted) and a study (because half his work is from home, and he's getting tired of doing it at the kitchen table).

I've had a letter to my mum and dad .....

Having put in for PP I'm getting the usual letters from builders telling how great they are - and one was written to Mr & Mrs PasturesNew.
