You really couldn't make this up!
Remember all that trouble I had with my previous solicitor lying to me etc... I just found out that my new solicitor has been closed down by the solicitors regulation authority.
UPDATE: Have spoken to therapist, who is going to find me a new solicitor, who's known to have done good work for either some of his own clients or some of his friends' clients.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
The whole area is known nationally as "an older people area".
Reminds me. I went to Chichester Theatre to see the matinee performance this week. A group of us middle aged folks to see a friend's adult daughter in a big role. While we were hanging round the stage door to meet her afterwards some of the other actors came out and commented how nice it was to have younger people in the matinee audience, apparently the matinee audience is known to be very old. We were quite flattered.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Well, I'm still too young to have the shingles vaccination! :rotfl:
Is that good or bad?
Mind you, I did have shingles many years ago. Does that make me immune now? Will go a-googlin'..............
(Edit..... one study suggests that recurrence of shingles when you have already had a bout is quite low.
Another suggests not having the vaccine for two or three years after a bout of shingles.
In the US they recommend the vaccine even if you think you've had shingles in the past, just in case.
I take the view that I'll have anything that's offered, and even some I'm not offered, unless there's a real medical reason why I shouldn't.)
I only had a small patch of it, about the size of a 50p piece, and even that was very painful and made me feel quite ill, so I sympathise, Sue.(I just lurve spiders!)

I am looking into having the shingles jab privately. My mum had shingles years ago, but still has post-herpetic neuralgia. I worry that I could have a familial disposition towards this. I also had chickenpox as an adult and it was b-a-d...

Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Just thinking how weird it is .... when you actually look at dates of people. My "cousin" is 70 this year, very active still ... her dad was born in 1888. When you think of people ~70 you'd imagine their parents were born ~1915-1925 as a ballpark figure. Hers were born 1888 & 1910. Her dad died when she was 6.
Cousin is technically my 1st cousin once removed = my mum's cousin.
That's a big age gap between the parents.
I'm 47 - what would you guess as a ballpark figure for when my paternal grandparents were born?
The answer's that both were born in 1886. (Highlight to see - text is in white so you can guess before looking.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? They were around 40 when your dad was born?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I bet they regretted calling it the torch tower:

That's the funny thing, you can have a grandmother who is only 32 years older than you, or one who is 80 years older than you!
It's even worse with granddads. Wasn't there someone in the news whose paternal grandfather had fought in the Napoleonic wars or something? :rotfl: (He may even have been born in the 18c! End of, admittedly, but still!)
My grandfather fought in WW1, and my dad in WW2, but they weren't overly young or old when they fathered children, nor were their wives.
I was considered old (medically) at 29 to have my first!
In my mind, there always seems to be a big 'space' between WW1 and WW2, and it always comes as a jolt to realise that there were only 21 years between the end of the one and the start of the other. Just enough time to produce a whole new generation of soldiers.
21 years after WW2 would have been 1966! (:rotfl: I suppose there was a sort of a war that year, and between the same combatants, too! :rotfl:)(I just lurve spiders!)

40? That's nothing.
There was an interesting bloke named Somerset de Chair. He was an MP, but was forced to stand down because of his, err, over enthusiasm for the opposite sex. I think he was in his mid sixties when he married his fourth wife and still managed to produce a daughter.
She's married to Jacob Rees-Mogg. Who isn't quite as interesting.0
