Not "horse's tail" is it?

You want to get rid of that. It's a right pain.
No... doesn't look like that - and I can't take a photo as I shaved it
Googling images, it might look "not entirely dissimilar" to an asparagus fern but it's not quite that I think..

It doesn't grow up, it lays down all the time. No perkiness. It's very evergreen.0 -
I read that you shouldn't use feed and grow type of grass treatments when the grass has dried out. Just looking through a local Facebook selling group and somebody's selling some rugs.... was about to skim past (no interest in rugs) when I spotted the description .... "in very good condition other than in need of a professional carpet clean due to pet dog toilet accidents!"
Do people have NO shame?0 -
I'm car hunting...not very successfully I may add!
This time around I am very restricted on what I can do as an advance payment and trying to find a car that is the right size (boot and height wise) within that restricted financial means, is proving pretty much impossible.
A Vaxuhall Astra estate looked a possible, great size boot for the wheelchair....I could get in but when it came to getting out I was stuck and then suffered nerve pains for the rest of the day.
S Max perfect in every way...apart from an advance payment that would make your eyes water.
A new model of the car I have now, again perfect.....but again an advance payment that would make your eyes water.
Did have some luck yesterday for a Volvo V40. Dealer offered an increased ride height version, top spec and as they have just relocated, with no advance payment. I could get in and out, it was automatic and it covered pretty much all the requirements....one downside is that the boot is on the small side and we are not sure it would work for us with the wheelchair. Beautiful car though and still tempted if we can satisfy ourselves with the wheelchair issue.
It appears that my main issues are ride height, boot size and needing an automatic...they all bump up the advance payment.
Still more to see though and maybe another dealership is offering a special offer, you never know! I've got a bit of time as the lease on my current car was extended, so not at desperate, must find a car immediately stage yet.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Sue It would be worth asking Motability if any grants are available to help with the advance payment in your situation. Our neighbour had to do that at one point because he couldn't afford the advance payment on the only car that was suitable for him. They gave him a grant of £3000.0

Carting my mum/dad about when frail, I found the likes of a Renault Kangoo, Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner were great. Mum could shuffle her stroller to the car and practically "leap in" to the car entirely unaided due to the high seats.
Re boot - no boot lip, so easy in/easy out of stuff... or even sitting on the ledge to change footwear/whatever (you see a lot of walkers doing that sort of thing).
Also, sliding side doors makes it easier to get stuff into/out of the car as you've not got to worry about space to open a door, or whether the wind will catch it.
Also great for "moving stuff about when you're moving homes - which is the sort of task your boys will be wanting you to do.
The rear, too, is a great place to sit if you can reverse into a car parking spot overlooking the sea - open the rear up and sit inside "like a mini beach hut" in comfort. Ideal for those "better days" when you've made yourself some cheese sandwiches and filled the flask.0 -
Did a car boot - one I like on Sundays does Wednesdays in the summer and only just found out.... so made my little list and went.
Overall, it wasn't nearly so large/good as the Sunday ones - and most people there were "shabby ebay traders" offloading their assorted cr4p and stuff they can't/won't sell on ebay.
But, I did manage to get myself a canvas "that'll do". £3. Tried googling them and they cost about £18-25 new. Not sure if I "like" it and would've chosen it in a shop, but "it'll do" and fills the spot I needed one for.
It doesn't fit that well on the picture hook ... so I might either have to fiddle about a bit, or just expect it to just drop off the wall late one night as I'm dozing off.0 -

Agree. I think I've said before, we bought a Partner Combi when we had my late MIL living with us. We liked it so much that we've kept it. Very practical.0 -

You just need 2 nails, one each end of the canvas. Picture hooks not much use for hanging a canvas unless it has string on the back of it from side to side.0
