Aargh! Now I want a cream tea!

But I'm on a wheat-free month, so I'll have to make do with peanuts.

    It's not the same. :(:(

Don't set yourself goals and you can have a cream tea when you want.

Goals are evil, sent to punish. Don't fall for it. Live free, have a cream tea :)

... and on the subject of "using words that sound the same...." does anybody remember the old comedy sketch (Two Ronnies?)

In a cafe, enquiring of breakfast options, furren accents required:
    Title might've been: M & X
    F U N E X?
    S V F X
    F U N E M?
    9 V F N 10 E M

.... it went on for more....

Found it on Youtube, this might be it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-mX9T2qyIQ

Well, there's a reason for it. It's an elimination thing, to see if a couple of health problems improve if I don't eat wheat.
I already know I'm not gluten intolerant, so this month I am having other grains.
If it's inconclusive, I'll try a completely grain-free month next, and then yeast.

I did a dairy-free month earlier in the year, which proved borderline for something else I wasn't even testing for!

Anyway.... it's good for me to give something up.
On Jan 1st I did the Dry January thing, then continued it until the middle of May, only relenting when I was on holiday.
However, it has really changed my attitude to alcohol, and made me realise a lot of things.

It's amazing what you have to check for wheat, though.
Some oven chips have wheat. (Added, I believe, to make them fluffier).
Some yogurts have cornflour, (added to thicken it up),which may be from maize, or it may be from wheat, it doesn't say, so I'm avoiding them anyway.

It's an expensive way to look a tw4t, upset people, ruin your new outfit and lose your wallet. You can do all that without the expense... and remember how you managed to do it all.

    :rotfl: Very true!

Actually, it made me realise that I don't like the inebriated feeling, even a very slight one.

I gave up wine completely about 5years ago, but then two years ago, I rediscovered some real ales, and single malts.

I do sometimes treat myself now to a certain couple of beers, but I haven't had a whisky (or any other spirit) since last December. I even managed to pull myself away from the counter displaying Laphroaigh on a very, very special offer that was too good to miss.......but I missed it, nevertheless.

I do like the taste of some alcoholic drinks, but not the inebriation.
I have found some drinks that for me are alcohol substitutes; they still give me a buzzy taste, but without the inebriation, and without the calories as well.

It isn't cheaper, but it's a lot healthier!
