Catch-up can be a pain, unless I'm desperate.
Especially on commercial channels where you can't fast forward through the ads.
And if the internet goes awol, it all stops.just at the exciting bits!(I just lurve spiders!)

My setup is currently:
Indoor aerial --> Freeview box --> Telly.
EDIT: Cor blimey, just googled Humax, looks like they cost almost as much as a whole new telly!
You could check with BT how much extra it is on top of the current plan to get their TV offering. The offering is dire, but they supply a free recorder, which you can keep once you cancel the TV offering. I paid £5 per month for 12 months to get a Humax recorder worth £100-150.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Is 1.3MB even fast enough to watch TV though?
I doubt it.
Also - I don't want "contracts". Everything these days is contracts and I'm anti-contracts.

Is it still 1.3mbps even with the faster PC? That's appalling. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Yes, it doesn't matter if NASA install their very best computer here, it won't change the speed of the broadband.
It's like owning a Ferrari when you still live at the end of a muddy track
My Internet speed is "not unusual" ... it's often in the Press how bad a lot of connections are. The only way to improve it is to buy fibre and wait a week for installation and pay a lot of money on a contract. It's a huge commitment for something others "take for granted".
If I were staying here, I could consider the whole raft of services I have, Internet, phone, mobiles, TV .... and come to a decision ... but as the future is uncertain I'm loathe to commit the time/decision-making, to be locked into a pricey contract when I don't know what I really want or where I'll be in 2 years' time.0 -
I wish I could work out where the birds are managing to get into my fruit cage - I suspect it's where some of the fence "planks" have slipped leaving a gap, but I won't be able to investigate properly until most of the foliage has died and dropped off. It must be a fairly large gap because it's mainly this year's first brood young blackbirds getting in.
It's not helped by the fact that the birds themselves only seem to be able to work it out 50% of the time - they can find their way in OK but can't find their way back out.
Still, look on the bright side - I only need another 21 (at last count) to get in and I can make the pastry0 -

The recorder records the TV signal. It has broadband capability, too, but you can ignore that. I agree that the contract angle is not good.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
