I've given the garden two 15-minute waterings in the last hour. You might say "should do it in the evening".. but I've already lost all the sun on the garden, so I've done it while it was in the shade and had all been in shade for some time (half of it in shade all day).0

I finally succumbed and put the aircon machine on.

The new unit is pretty small, I doubt it'd fit - and so I've added to my mental list "investigate the swinging sign up the road that says he does PC stuff and see if the HDD from here can be shoved into a case with a USB"
No idea if new PC has a DVD drive, never needed/used one. As for disk/key ... maybe, packed though .. and they're not originals
XP = desktop, icons, I know what I'm after and can find it from Start.... usually stuff in Accessories, or Control Panel.
7 & 10 = a big fat blank screen with a couple of pointless images on it ... and a fight to find the engine inside.
I wouldn't bet against there being space for another hd - even in those little cube cases you can fit 2 3.5 hdds, otherwise buy a usb caddy off ebay for a fiver - or as GDB suggests use a usb key as your current drive is so small but I suspect the usb on your current pc may be pretty slow.
Here it was actually less hot today as there was a fair breeze but we are promised 30 later in the week and you can add a couple of degrees for London - I wonder if hottest day on record is under threat. AC remains in the shed where it has sat for 8 years but we have dug the fans out as well as using the ceiling fans.I think....0 -
I'd strimmed the lawn recently and ran the mower over it today. Kicked up enough dust to choke an army.

It is so hot. Went to sleep at 11. Woke up numerous times in night. Woke up again at 4am. 25 degrees in bedroom with window wide open. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I do feel it's a "waste of good weather" - especially as I'm locked inside with the curtains closed as it's too hot to actually be outside.
On the other hand, as I see it, if I were well, what else would I be doing? There's nothing to go out for is there. If you don't need something, and you've no suitable clothes for this weather ... then where on earth would you be going to if you went out? Just plodding around in a circle, getting over hot ... before plodding home again
I've not even bothered to try to turn the telly on for over a week, perchance it was choosing to work for a bit.... given up with that and not even aware of it.0 -

Looking on the bright side:
As you're in all the time, because you are ill, you will not miss the delivery of your new PC.
With the new PC, you will be able to watch online television, so you will not need to replace the TV.
Life is peachy, really!
Hope you get better soon.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

1/ It doesn't work like that - delivery drivers have an app that can hear your loo door closing; once their app tells them that, they sneak up the path and leave a "Tried to Deliver ... come to depot 50 miles away" postcard. When I ordered it said to put in a mobile phone number to receive texts about delivery ... so I did that; I also have my PIR doorbell that I can "plant" in my approach path, so I can tell if anybody's approaching, so I shouldn't miss it. My front door is actually behind a locked gate, so I need to unlock the gate AND be aware of an expected delivery as the doorbell doesn't work if they tried to ring it eitherGate's always locked, postbox is outside of the gate... I only unlock the gate for my use.
2/ It doesn't work like that - my broadband's not up to streaming speed. It's under 2MB. I also like to have the telly on in the background and the PC on ... watching/switching between them both depending on what's on the telly.0
