PN I am so glad you don't live next door - the kids have stopped doofing at the front and started screaming in the pool at the back - I guess at least they are not all simultaneously on the trampolines....
Me too
Do yours do hour-long (and more) Murder Screamfests every second they're on it, and go 3-4 up at a time for all that duration?
It's not really the DOOFing itself, nor the screaming, etc... it is the fact that experience has shown me that they then escalate into "other activities".... if they all just did it in their gardens, or on the street, that's up to them... and that's life.
The trouble is the escalation and nuisance and "escalated behaviours and mis-behaviours".
When you're in your kitchen pottering about, you don't expect to see a kid peering down at you, as he's standing on your wall - and picking apples off your tree to throw into your garden... and if you step outside you don't expect to see a kid peering over the top of your sidegate by standing on your wall, so he can see if you're in/not so he can tell if he's likely to get away with being naughty... nor do you expect to then be "stared out" by a fat kid standing on your wall challenging you visually ... (I won).
You don't expect 3-4 heads to appear over the adjoining fence so they can screech to their mates, who then join them at the fence and clamber up, before all then skating/scootering round, while hollering around all the parked cars for 2-3 hours.
Play, DOOF, scream etc... within the confines of your own garden, or in places you are legally allowed to be doing reasonable things that are "normal" ... and that's life.
So the minute I hear one, ANY one, doing anything, I'm on "high alert" for what nonsense they'll do that directly affects me....
And sheer numbers that could participate....0 -
...
It's not just the water spraying up the wall (fixed that now as I'd done it up tight ... and then wondered if I undid it a bit if it'd lessen - and it did).
The actual hose has holes in it/splits.
I also discovered that if you put your finger over the end, that IS how you're supposed to do it and the water sprays further.
So I've got it done... with just a lot of water round the tap area where there were an assortment of hose leaks.0 -
You probably want some half inch hosepipe (take a bit with you to check though, there are bigger sizes). Don't buy the cheapest stuff it's rubbish.
Lidl had some in the other day I seem to remember. Their stuff's usually OK.
If they're the push on fittings, if you look at the male part of the connector, it's got an O-ring in a groove.
If they're just leaking, that's often the problem.
If the female part isn't latching on then just replace it.
Most of them are sort of universal, but some are a tight / loose fit.
That's all a bit complex (for me).
I did see the pipes in L1dl, earlier today ... seemed a bit pricey and I didn't dare buy it as I wasn't sure if it'd "fit" or be "the right thing" - and I think, from memory, it was a bit short (saw the price anyway ... so backed carefully away)0 -
Well bugg4h me ... if it hasn't just started raining!
That's not fair.0 -
It's not really complicated as such. It's a lot easier when it's in front of you than trying to describe it.
Depends what's expensive to you.
Here's some on eBay with fittings for £8.99

The most important thing wth hoses and connectors is to get the right one for your tap.
Measure the diameter of the tap, then note if it's a screw head or plain.
Then in the shop, make sure the connector for the tap is the right size and shape for the tap, and then everything else in that type will suit.
Ensure it says 'tap connector', as there are other types of connectors.
You might find a 'gun'-type spray for the other end is easier than your finger over the hole. They usually come with a dial where you can get different types of spray, ranging from just a normal flow of water, to a jet, to a fine spray. Plus they have a trigger which you can lock to on, and then off without having to go back to the tap.(I just lurve spiders!)

Ooh, I think I'll try that - fiddle with the hose and make it rain :rotfl:0 -

£8.99 is OK - that looks like it has "all the bits".
What I thought I saw in Lidl just looked like a length of hose and it didn't appear to have the connectors ... and it was about £16-17... and as I was nervous/unsure and hadn't gone in there to buy such a thing, I walked away ...0 -

Hurray!
Now let's hope it's enough to make a difference and not just dampen the top of the soil.(I just lurve spiders!)

As Pyxis said it's best to take the bits with you if you go to a shop.
Worth knowing that the hosepipe itself is usually measured by internal diameter, and can be imperial or metric.
The taps are still imperial sizes. The most common outside tap is a "1/2" tap", but confusingly has a 3/4" outlet. That's 3/4" BSP (British Standard Pipe), which is again the inside diameter of the pipe the thread is associated with.
Most common garden hose type fittings are 3/4" BSP thread. Which are about 1" outside diameter.
I think I've got that all right!0
