Anyone else kept up last night by God's mobile disco? That was really loud here with loads of lightning strikes and very heavy rain.

Really loud here too, according to OH. I commented on the lightning then fell asleep!

PN most of the "sheds" are open on Sundays and all will stock drill bits - B&Q, Wickes, screwfix....... Check whether you need drill bits for wood or not, I think you have to buy the correct size and the correct material.

and the destructions say I need a 3mm and a 5mm drill bit! So, with two specified sizes, I can't "wing it" with one indeterminate sized bit.

Curious, that sort of thing usually comes predrilled.
Are those drills for fixing it to the wall? If so, make sure you get masonry bits, not wood bits.
The leaflet with the drill seems to indicate that the indeterminate size is a 50mm bit.
I doubt that - 2" bits are enormous, not very common at all and impossible to use (or, at the very least, impossible to use safely)with a handheld cordless drill :p

    Sure it doesn't say 5.0mm?

Really? Just tap them in? Even I could do that ... she says optimistically ... once I've worked out where studs are.

I'm still umming and aahing about the wall fixings left behind from the previous owner from floating shelves she left.... I think the best result would be to simply buy more floating shelves and get "a little man" round to put the lot up. The alternative is to tortuously try to remove all the many rawl plugs and metal fixings, fill holes, then paint over them (2-3x to match in), but some of the walls might then need a "full splash of paint on the whole wall as it looks a mess".... so it might just be easier to get shelves and be done. :)
    How about a large picture?
    I think....

It turned out hot/sunny and humid. I walked round a couple of car boots, but didn't buy much. Yesterday I'd looked at a lampshade and thought "pfft £6... not today thank you" and today I was sold an identical one for 50p + she gave me it's matching pair as they'd broken a little of it while unpacking at the stall...

I looked for drill bits, but they weren't where I was.... and then I pondered bothering today and decided to come home :)

Looking at the destructions, the drilling bits are just for drilling pilot holes into the base, before you screw the legs in.... it also mentions fitting to walls needing drilling.... but I'm not putting it on a wall. Both of those mention the 3mm bit... I can see no mention of the 5mm bit at all!

Oh well. I've chosen to not do it today anyway .... I think I did buy some drill bits when I bought the drill (I went to look for them, but can't remember if I found/bought any, but I think I might've done) so I'll leave it until I CBA to look for those. My guess is that if they exist they're in a 7l flexibucket of "things" under the stairs.

Apart from any weight/moving it into position issues.... it doesn't look like rocket science to build this at all.

Just had my first go at swapping a blind over, to see if it fits in the existing fitting .... but the first one's super tight trying to get it out - and I don't want to tug too hard and pull the fitting down from the window, ending up with nothing except a blind in my hand and a dangling fitment!

Nothing's as straight forward as you'd like is it.

EDIT: Had a second little go ..using that time-honoured advanced skill of "prising with a random knife".... I bet I could force it, but that might end in tears. It looks like a simple swapover will end up having to be a "little man" job.

PN. Given it is just a pilot hole and you have an electric screw driver, I am sure the drill bit that came with your drill (assuming it is not a screwdriver bit) will do the job - all you really need to do is pierce the 'laminate' covering of the chipboard unit and then you will be able to screw the little screws in fine with an electric driver. So the lack of a drill bit is no excuse not to put the cupboard together....
    I think....

Strangely, I think the supplied bit IS a screwdriver bit.
Also, I guess, it's just for the feet.... I could build it except the feet I guess ... and add those later, at least then it'd slide under the worktop and be out of the way.

    BUT ...

I nodded off and just woke up and read this, and now really don't fancy it at all :)

If you're going to the throw the old blinds away, you might be able to cut them out with a hacksaw.

Would save paying someone to get them out just to be thrown away.
