Re white/grey ... and do I need grey. I've slept on it ... and now have the definitive answer.
I am painting over the "in your face" colours, to tone them down. I am painting over that with grey to "add a colour that I can then use/focus on for anything/everything else I randomly do".
One thing I will probably randomly do is paint a small/narrow freestanding shelving unit (about the size of, say, a DVD tower) ... and I can paint a couple of old lampshades grey (see how that goes, if it's !!!!!! they can go down the tip, but it's worth a punt). I also have some shabby old side tables that might benefit from a splash of grey ... or not ... depending on how I feel. To paint these additional things I think grey would look "less odd" than white might. But who knows... these could be more things I try/fail at that end in tears
It's just "another neutral colour nobody can take offence to" that might just make the house look a little more coordinated than my usual mish mash of random car boot finds etc of all sorts of finishes/colours.0 -

I think grey's a good idea. A newly painted single bright white wall might make the other walls look strange, but grey is neutral and understated but stylish.
Got a large modern picture you could hang on it?(I just lurve spiders!)

I am, however, thinking I might be able to "do something", but not sure what. I see command strips are offering quite chunky weight limits nowadays (e.g. 2Kg), in fact I've had some (lighter weight) for 4-5 years but never got round to using them because you read the instructions and you need some alcohol stuff or something to clean the wall before you stick them up, so never got round to trying to find that
As a result of not being a picture hanger ... I've not really got any/many at all, never mind trying to then get something appropriate etc. I might keep an eye out in charity shops for "something/anything that might fill a hole" so to speak, but I doubt I'll randomly find something that's a good fit. If I find something, with a wooden frame, I could paint the frame grey, if appropriate etc etc.
... overall, it won't happen will it. So many other, more important, things to do - like getting the curtain rail in Bed2 to stay up so I can hang curtains on it ...0 -

You only need something like this
Or this
You just bang the pins in with a hammer, and the beauty is that when you remove them they only leave a tiny pinhole behind.
Places like Wilkinson sell them in small quantities, or any DIY store, or pound shop etc.
I've got picture rails now, but before I did, I used these all the time.(I just lurve spiders!)

I had a Plan A, while the roads were quiet, thought I'd load up the car with some stuff for the tip, take the weeding I'd done, might as well take the regular bin bag .... then onto Sainsbobs to collect an order (which will be there until next Saturday so no rush) ....
But it's turned out quite hot/sunny, so I think all that will probably wait unless I randomly get it into my head to get up and do it. None of it's urgent, it's all just "nice if it were done, but not a show stopper".
No painting today probably .... as I'd have to change clothes and I CBA with that. It's hot, it's sunny - the phone might ring (doubtful) .... so I'll just doss about drinking fizzy pop.0 -

As for the others.... I have one memory of many years ago when my sibling bought a new house ... and got some of those. The plan was to hang three small pictures in quite a neat formation. It was an utter disaster... kept banging ... and there were holes in the wall, so tried it 1" along etc.... and, in the end, they were tossed in the bin and we bought the first sort, which workedThe pictures could then be hung over the holes in the wall
Being useless is genetic. I'm probably the "more able".... I try to not do things that will fail; my sibling goes ahead anyway and they mostly fail.
Sibling bought a new house and dad and BIL hung up a coat hook for her. Two of them, with tools ... it lasted about a year before it fell off the wall.

I pity the people round the corner who had a house built next to them that has a 20' deep garden ... and a trampoline was put in there, right against the fence, beside their conservatory.
Three 4-6 year olds have been on that trampoline, all screaming and shouting for the past hour non-stop. I'm 9 doors away and can hear it, while indoors, over the PC fan/my typing and over the telly noise! That's three heads bobbing up and down over their fence at the rate of 3/second ... and all the hollering.0 -
Got all my planned errands done. Grass & general rubbish to tip. Old sofa cushions to tip. Off to collect an Argos order from Sainsbobs - although I thought something was wrong as what I had in my hand didn't match what I'd expected .... so I came home to double check, I HAD ordered the right thing, then, on closer checking/inspection, I realised that I have been sold/given the right things, it just didn't look like it at the time and took me by surprise a bit ... but as I was in Sains and not an Argos store I didn't feel able to go back and check enquire.
I was lucky I guessSo annoying when you don't get what you order, or if the order does vary from the description, or your expectation was different. But, I got what I thought I ordered, so all's well in the House of Errors.

The first ones in Pyxis's picture - the plastic ones - we used to put up a painted tile (it's long and narrow iyswim, i.e. a normal sort of depth for a tile, but the width of three or four tiles.) on the wall facing the front door. Mr ivyleaf put it up using two of those hooks, one at each end. Unfortunatlely, although he made sure the bubble in the spirit level was "in the middle", he didn't think to make sure it was "right in the middle". So the tile is not quite straight, but we can't reposition one of the hooks to make it straight, as it'd take the paint off the wall. So it's there irritating me every time I look at it, until the happy day when we manage to redecorate *rolls eyes*0

If it helps, as long as I was careful in prising them off, those plastic hooks didn't take the paint off the wall. I suppose it might depend on how long the paint's been dry for, though.
Well, I really enjoyed the Royal Wedding! I thought the music was great, and I just loved the address by the American Episcopal Church leader! :T
I thought it was all very nice indeed.
I was blubbing a bit, too, at the loving looks they kept exchanging.(I just lurve spiders!)
