Am I alone in thinking what a grinny name Duster is for a car? :D

Is it yellow with a brown trim? :D

No, strangely they don't offer it in yellow - it would have been tempting :rotfl:

No, I got rid of the Merc - I hung on to it for a while to decide which was the more suitable, then returned the Merc and kept the Duster. Although it's not as comfortable for long journeys the Duster's far better suited to the hilly, narrow, twisty, bumpy roads around here, especially for seeing around corners over hedges and walls.

I "should" have kept the Merc until the end of the contract in September this year but worked out that it'd cost me at least 4 grand just to have it sat on the drive in case I felt like using it. So I paid the outstanding amount to make up the minimum due under the PCP contract, returned it and then paid off the PCP on the Duster as well.

Surprisingly, the Duster's not much bigger a footprint than the Merc. There's only about an inch in it length and widthwise, although quite a bit on the height. It's actually easier for getting in and out in tight spaces because you step up into it and down out. With the Merc I had to try to stand up at the same time as getting out so needed the door open further.

I have got a Merc. It has 5 doors. Two at the front, two at the back and a nice sliding one on the side. :D

Spend a fair bit of my time driving round London's congested roads and surrounding narrow country lanes. Big cars around here are about as practical as a catflap on a submarine.

After 30 years I've returned to using the smallest possible car but I won't compromise on having a spare tyre, (although it has to be a spacesaver).

You know, that Is a very good likeness of the happy couple.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Pastures, regrading your key, if there were letters in the box, might you have put the key down with the letters?
There were 3 letters either the day before the last time I used it, or the last time.... and I've already checked that as letters get tossed to one side to be dealt with and I've been all over every inch of where they are put down about 4x

Out of interest, did your front door not have a letter-box opening, then?
I've never understood why that happens. I would hate to have to go outside to get my post. Plus, lots of things would end up sticking out of the box and invite unwanted attention.:(
The trouble is, approaching the house you have to come through the gate to get to the front door.... and the gate would stick at first, then I decided I'd prefer to be able to lock the gate ... so I put the postbox up so I didn't have to worry about the gate being left to bang, or the gate not undoing, or anything. Re unwanted attention, that's why I specifically got a biggun.

It was never an ideal arrangement, the extension was to have addressed all these gate/approach/post issues.

.... when I go out, my car and house keys are on the same key ring!...
Ideally they'd be on the same one, but, for a variety of reasons, I've got two sets: car and house/gate. I separated them when I was going out and wanted a small set - and the big car key has a fat remote fob ...and I never rejoined them - and, now, I also put my gate key on the house key ring, which is a 4" long type.

If I'd suspected/known that the items I ordered from Argos yesterday evening, "for collection after 10am" would have arrived at 7.30am when the shop opened... I'd have been down there with my car to collect, to "beat the rush".

I guess now, as it's Saturday, the quietest time to go out collecting etc will be about 12ish.
