Pastures, I have just sent you a PM about a possible NHS dentist not too far away from your area.
It may be useful. If not, no worries.(I just lurve spiders!)

I guess I was lucky then. My nearest one wasn't taking new NHS patients but the one in Ambleside was. OK, it's a 50 mile round trip but I go up there quite often anyway so I wasn't bothered - although I would be if I had to go and the weather was adverse..
A few weeks ago the local dentist posted on the local facebook group that they were taking new NHS patients - so I was down there for 09:00 the next day and have now switched to them ;-)0 -
I need to take a good look at all the options really ... need to understand what it's all about etc and what you get/don't and problems if you want something and trying to pay for it privately while an NHS patient.
Paying privately for something from a dentist that offers NHS treatments used to be a good money saving plan. As more and more dentists become private only, the ones that are left as NHS dentists tend to be woefully under resourced and their equipment out of date or on its last legs.
It may work out more cost effective to see a private dentist rather than have an NHS perform some private work, particularly as the private dentists may be more experienced in whatever you need.
Having made the difficult decision to move dentists from one that offered NHS to one that is solely private, I am astounded by the difference in equipment they have.
Also, private dentists won't get offended if you go to them as a one off for some particular treatment on a particular tooth.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The local Sainsbobs offers a £100/year plan of 2x dentist and I think 2x a clean.... I was thinking of doing that.... but then I wondered about what to do re "work" ... you do get a discount with them, but then you see the prices and think "how much???" .... I thought if I did the £100/year deal and then saved £30/month into a separate savings account, plus £20 for the gas cover I don't have, plus any other things I'd like to have and can't afford .... it might add up over time to save for one "big disaster" to be paid for.0

How are you doing PN?
Edit: Sorry, did not mean to intrude. I was just thinking about you and your broken tooth. It must be miserable. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

It's OK, luckily. A clean snap, so just a slightly annoying edge. Next week it'll be fully drilled out and replaced, then the missing bit "rebuilt" with fake tooth/shaped.0 -
There are some days when I feel I need to buy my own island to escape from human beans, and fill the intervening waterways with sharks, and yesterday and today are two of those days.

So where's that island?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

HUGS from me too, Pyxis
Our 10-year-old DGD has just told her friends that she has to start wearing glasses for reading and looking at the board in class. Their reaction was apparently "Ooh! Cool!"
How things have changed, even just since her Mum started wearing glasses at around the same age!0
