the most expensive part is the parking, the cost of which makes your eyes water!
I know what you mean, it's extortionate up here in the Lakes too. The worst of it is that the car parks are all operated by different organisations (County Council, local Council, National Park Authority, National Trust, United Utilities, Lowther Estate, probably Forestry Commission) so there's no "joined-up" thinking options available.
If you're touring around and only staying in one place for a short time it's dreadfully expensive when it's all totted up, £3 here, and other £3 there, £3.50 at the next, etc., etc. I dare say they'll soon add a premium too, because we're now a World Heritage Site.
Luckily, most of the car parks I want to use are National Trust and free to members - which is why I joined in the first place
In comparison, I was over in North Yorkshire or Northumberland, (can't remember which, all can remember is that it was one of the two) some years ago and all the car parks were operated by the same authority - so they had a flexible ticketing arrangement, where you buy one for, say four hours, and it's valid in any and all of their car parks until the four hours expires. Great if you're touring around because you just pay the once and move around at will.
Western Scotland (and the Western Isles in particular) are even better - loads of car parks and hardly any charges at all.0 -
Just got an absolute bargain, a dress reduced down from £425 to £49! Perfect for James' graduation.
I don't think I've ever seen a reduction like that before!

If you're touring around .... expensive when it's all totted up, £3 here, and other £3 there, £3.50 at the next, etc., etc. ...
It's why I mostly don't go out except to places where there's free parking. Out of town shopping places, car boots (although even they charge, but it's usually 50p/£1).
Toss in the ticketers chasing you for £100 for overstaying by 1 minute and life's now horrendous for the casual driver.
If I were in charge of general parking I'd be looking at things such as "free until 9.30am and after 4.30pm" giving people on their way to/from work the chance of popping in to spend their money in small town centres, High Streets, etc. As it is, people don't stop as they then have to pay for parking so they might as well keep going and get home and order something online from some random overseas company.0 -
I've not heard it before!

Yes! "Elsewhere" if you don't want to post it here, of course.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

It looks black but it is in fact a very dark navy. I am going to team it with a shrug or shawl in a contrasting colour to give it some relief (and to try to hide some bulges).
Same dress was £430 in Harrods but has now sold out, it is also being offered somewhere else online reduced from £425 to £113.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Thanks, the picture doesn't really do it justice as you can't really see the quality of the lace and the detail that you can in close up and real life.We made it!
