Would it not be easier if, having attended to the window, you turn ninety degrees and step sideways from the bath to the floor instead of backwards?
Well, yes, that's what I do do, but you still have to concentrate on clearing the edge of the bath with your foot.
It'd be all too easy to clip the edge and go flying.
Although I'm 5'6", my legs are short relative to my height, iyswim.

I've been doing a lot of hand washing today, so had to pop things onto the airer in the bath ... so wanted the window to be "open a smidge" to let that additional moisture out.
Normally what I do is: open the window, have a bath, leave the bathroom, shut the bathroom door, leave the window open as long as possible (shut it if going out, shut it if it gets cold).
I do have an extractor linked to the light, but they petrify me ... so I turned it off at the switch ... and now, actually, I don't even have a lightbulb as the bulb blew some time ago and I really can't face getting the ladder out to get up the ceiling, to try to get the light fitting off, to see what sort of bulb is in there, then go out to try to get one, then get back up the ladder and try to juggle a lightbulb while not falling off the ladder
I only have a bath when it's daylight.
Aw, bless! :A
I know what you mean, though. My bathroom clock has been telling the wrong time for ages because the battery is failing, but I just can't be bothered to get the step ladder and change it.
I get annoyed with myself, I really do!(I just lurve spiders!)

Hi maggie, caravan looks great, will you be getting steps up to the door?
There'll be deck in front of the front doors, and a ramp to access it along the side of the caravan (to the left on photo). I'm reaching the state that mostly I can't walk far enough to manage steps. Last year I was so glad we had a ramp when I had to do trips to local walk in place for B12 injections every other day for 2 weeks. So knackered when got back to caravan OH had to wheel me up ramp in wheelchair.
The side door that you can't see on the right of photo will have steps and maybe a mini deck. We can't work out how that will work yet as a lot of stuff needs doing on the hedge - at back of caravan a lot will be removed to make fire escape space stuff. Until that work is done we can't work out how the steps will work - at least we have a set of temporary steps there so we can get in and out!0 -
My inside leg, for buying jeans, is about 26" (66cm), although sometimes they lie and they're still a bit long. I was this height when I was 10.
I try to look for "age 12-13" in jeans, but I have to give them a miss as they usually have BARBIE in glitter/pink down a leg, or they've some other "trend of the year for 12 year olds" on them, which isn't a good look at my age
I've never understood why anybody oohs and aahs over those stand alone baths ... I'd hate to have to try to get out of one of those.0 -

I have small kick stool which automatically clamps itself down as you put any weight on it. Better than ladders or set of steps.0

That'd not be high enough to reach a light fitting and see what's what. On one of those I might be able to touch a light fitting, but not be close enough to work on it...
If I stand with my arms/hands/fingers fully stretched above my head, I can walk out of the door of the room without touching the doorframe - and I'm in a regular little new build. Short shiit
I think I'd want to be 1' (30cm) from the ceiling... my ceiling height is 93" high (236cm). I am 61" tall (155cm). So anything I stand on would need to be 32"/81cm high.... which is about my own hip height .... and I'd wobble with fear too, so need something to "grab onto".
I wobble when I'm on the first step of a ladder
I'd rather stick to having a bath in daylight, than run the risk of being the "Decomposed Body Found After 4 Years ......" because I fell off trying to change a lightbulb in a stupid fitting on the ceiling that's alien to me.0 -

Yes, I have one of those kick steps, a legacy from my business, but it's not very useful...... as Pastures says, it doesn't get you high enough. It's ok for reaching the front of a shelf in a cupboard, but not even the back of the highest shelf, and as I said before, I'm 5'6"!
(In my business it was for getting files from shelves, but still needed step ladders for things like light-bulbs.
My ceilings must be higher than yours, Pastures. 7'9" seems low for a ceiling.
I need the security of a full-size step-ladder when changing light-bulbs, to have something to hold onto, especially as a couple of light shades are those flush-fitting ones held on with springs, and they are on the highest ceilings. In fact, the bulbs in those have gone, and need changing.(I just lurve spiders!)
