Something just happened to me that I wasn't expecting.... from the garden I thought I could see a fire in the distance. I didn't rush as I thought any fire that size will go on hours.... I popped upstairs to see it from the bedroom window and was SURE there was a fire, I could see the orange moving in a plume of smoke. So, being super nosey .... I got dressed, got my camera, got the car keys .... and went out.

Got up the road a bit and thought the windscreen seemed a bit dirty, splashed the wipers on and the water instantly froze, couldn't see a thing! Had to pull into the first available shop driveway and wait it out until it'd cleared :)

Got cold fingers now from going out. The car dashboard thermometer said it's -1 out there!

Couldn't find any fire. Came home.

I've seen this before .... I wonder if there's some hidden small industrial unit that has something producing vapour - and a security light that sometimes comes on and glows orange.

Unless you watch Swedish TV on the internet you should be ok... well until May at least. For the benefit of michaels, I should explain that I'm talking about Melodifestivalen and not something saucy.

At Casa Viva we watch all of the Scandinavian finals where they don't conflict, plus all of the acts that make it as semi finalists. Melodifestivalen started in Sweden last Saturday. We quite often watch Malta too. Some other countries, e.g. Australia, have internal selection rather than a national final.

Well at least CK gets where I'm coming from!

I saw a short bit of the Uk entry. It is very repetitive, and I did not like it much. I suspect that means it will do really well?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It is a very Eurovision song gdb, but I don't think it will do brilliantly. It's the sort of song that would have done well four or five years ago.

I used to enjoy it, many years ago.

However, I really dislike the way it's become so very much more nationalistic.
Plus I find most of the songs on offer rather tedious.
IMO, there have been few really memorable Eurovision winners. Some, obviously, but not many.

However, I know you go to the live events, and it is always the case that a live experience is more exciting than watching it on a small rectangle!:D

    Do you have Swedish connections?

Bizarrely, I stumbled across the Eurovision and kept it on "just to mock" so to speak....

They were truly awful, then this winner came on and the song was going nowhere, but then she broke out into that Eurovision-friendly super cheesy chorus .... and I thought "that's the sort of !!!!!! that does well in Eurovision". She was the only one that had the traditional sort of "cr4p song that does well at Eurovision" sound.

and I thought "that's the sort of !!!!!! that does well in Eurovision".

Lordi did one in 2006 that was nothing like "that sort of !!!!!!" - and it won :rotfl:

Well, over the years, we haven't done too badly.

We won 5 times, came second 15 times, and third 3 times.

Ok, we came last 3 times, but we only got nul points once (2003).
Admittedly, it does feel like more times than that!

Given that political feeling seems to pervade the results, I don't hold out much hope for us doing well this year, though! :D:(
