My wife lost her engagement ring at the cemetery yesterday. We were both really upset at the thought of losing it after nearly 40 years.
Somebody's been really honest, though, because it was handed in at the cemetery office. So, we are going there this morning to get it back.

That's lovely.

You must both be so relieved.
Yes, we are really pleased. Off now to buy a present, then we'll go and collect it.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Niceness is so underrated. So many times you hear the cliche " do not take my kindness for weakness". Which is true because so many people are strong. Does this mean there is a hint of meanness???
I do not understand why people can b so mean. Life si so short so why make it harder for yourself or someone else by being mean. Its such a pleasure to meet nice people who share your philosophy in life.0 -

When one of us has finished deleting this thread is going to make a very odd read!
In answer to what will be a deleted post, all of us have odd behaviour traits, it is what makes us all unique. I've had group conversations where my views are clearly out of kilter with everyone else.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. There you go!
What were you saying yesterday on Michael's thread? :T :T
Now, I've read more than once, in this forum, people saying things like "finders keepers" and that they'd keep anything they found in the street or wherever, which has really upset me to hear that.
However, you've had direct experience of someone NOT doing that, which is absolutely fantastic!
And given that you agreed yesterday with the sentiment of being nice to people, it couldn't have happened to a nicer person!
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :dance::dance::dance:
[Edit! Hahahahahahahahahhaa!
Have just realised that it wasn't you who said what I thought you'd said on Michael's thread! Here I go again! Need more medication, I reckon!
However, despite that faux pas, I'm sure you would have said it, had you been on that thread, and as such, I am still sure you are a very nice person indeed!
Back to the iguanas. (See post further on.)]

I'm sure you've seen me "stick my foot right in it" here plenty of times

Pastures, one of the beauties of getting older, is that people who are different gradually stop being people 'to be wary of' and start to become the 'local lovable eccentric'. :rotfl:
Every community has its 'mad cat lady' or equivalent!
Ever thought of getting some cats?
Seriously, though, I can understand a lot of what you say, because I grew up feeling a bit 'odd', and an outsider, and I do still feel an outsider in lots of situation/groups.
Part of that, I suppose, was the ADHD, and part of it was just me.
The problem is that it isn't always possible to find a group of people where one truly fits in.That may be because there isn't one in the town, region or even country one lives in, so there's inevitably a huge compromise to be made, which doesn't always work.
In the meantime, it can be very easy to get hurt. I think one does learn some coping strategies over the years; unfortunately, one of those tends to be internalisation, which is often not good, and another is, of course, avoidance.
I'm a past master at both! :rotfl:
However, I have today, finally, finally finished my accounts and delivered them to my accountant. I've been worrying about doing them for 10 months.
I surpassed even myself with their lateness this year!
("My accountant" sounds grand, but it isn't really. They are the people that had done my business accounts for 20 years, so when I retired, although my affairs weren't large by any means, a couple of things were a bit complicated, and left to me I'd probably have ended up paying too much tax! So letting them do it saves me a bit of money and more importantly, saves a lot of stress and grief, so cheap at the price!)
And a bonus of getting the accounts done is that I can finally see the surface of my dining table again!
Which means I've got somewhere to sort the next pile of papers, and then the next, and the next!
I might get to see my living room again soon! :rotfl:
Anyway, going back to the great British Eccentric, I'm working on developing my own unique style of it! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Perhaps I shall keep giant iguanas!
And take them for walks on leads! :rotfl: :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

Not really, but my post clearly put my foot right in it. Sorry.
Not sure what you meant by that! :A
However, I agree that yes, we can all have moments when a sinkhole would be quite an attractive phenomenon that particular moment!
I still flinch at a day several years ago, when I managed to put my foot in it, big time, with a family who I knew a bit as I was friends with their friends.
The inattentiveness that is part of ADHD caused me to forget certain facts about said family, and three times in one day I managed to say things that really weren't appropriate, and might have caused some hurt.
I think they probably realised that they were dealing with someone with a bit of puppy brain that day, and I did apologise, but ............
Aaaaaaaaargh!(I just lurve spiders!)
