There used to be a system where you could claim ownership of an abandoned car if it was left unused for long enough.
And there was discussion on here of people who took out mortgages on other people's houses without their knowledge, which would have massive financial implications for the poor owners.

you see, that's the sort of thing I'd baulk at.
Someone somewhere would be bound to find a way to hack into that system, secure login or no secure login.

But at the moment I file a tax return online every year (actually I haven't done the 16/17 one yet despite having had the figures since June). That can be downloaded from the website it's filed on and theoretically if the login details are present it's possible for you to file a tax return for me. I also need to use an app on my phone to log into those, which is through a company chosen through the government and therefore (I'd imagine) secure.

I don't know why you'd want to know how much tax I pay, but if you really were that desperate I'm sure you could find it out. If for cars for example you needed the corner number from the latest driving license of the registered keeper (which I believe is printed nowhere but the license itself) then you couldn't order a new license at a different address for someone else unless you physically had the old one in front of you.

The only companies that have any personal details of mine on either a passport or a DL are airlines, any banks that I may deal with and naturally the government who issued the documents. There's simply no need for anyone else to request the details in a form that they'd be stored.

In case any NP are not aware of this, there's a free service whereby the Land Registry warns you if anybody tries to fiddle with your property. You can sign up here:

    https://propertyalert.landregistry.gov.uk/

You can watch other people's property, too. So, you can keep an eye on aged parents, etc.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Oh yes, I've got that! It's good!

Also, if you've got a leasehold property, register your interest in the Freehold as well as your own leasehold. That way, you can see if the Freehold is ever sold. Or even if there is just a search.

He was a bit before my time, but undoubtedly had an influence on many artists that followed.

It wasn't until I was reading his obit. on the BBC News site that I found out that his nickname wasn't because of his build but because his piano playing style, when he was a teenager, resembled that of Fats Waller and Fats Pichon.
