Went to see a premier of Blade Runner 2049 on Thursday, and would recommend it to all and sundry. And my spies tell me that The million Dollar Quartet at Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre is the toast of the West of England.

Whatsisface, the film reviewer on TV, said he didn't recommend people go and see it unless they'd seen the other films first.

    I've not seen any.

There's only one other, but several versions. The important one is The Directors Cut. It truly is one of the best films ever made. I never go to the cinema - seats too uncomfortable for me etc. But the new Blade Runner film is one I'm going to make an exception for - I think it's going to be one of those films that seeing it on the BIG screen is going to be amazing. I also think the story in it will still make sense on smaller screens (TV) and be good. But I want to see it first on cinema screen.

You really do need to have seen the first one, and yes, it is an exceptional movie. This new one is visually stunning but very long. And it's a good story, about a bad time.

The first movie's set only two years in our future. One of the replicants is supposed to have already come off the production line. It's got one of the most realistic visions of the future you could imagine. Everybody who's capable has gone off in rockets to points unknown, while everybody who couldn't are living in tenements in a ruined Earth where daylight's dangerous and the rain hardly ever stops.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Pastures, have you come across any more of your new-build neighbours?

No. I've been aware of a couple parking/going into their house - and know who "the farqing annoying ones" are. There are two farqers :)

There are still two empties. Strangely, the two that I'd have thought were more desirable than those purchases (e.g. the end ones with extra garden bits/good siting of gates).

My own local farqers were being super annoying tonight. 7 brats, 3 bikes, 2 scooters, 2-3 lots of skates.....

You know, what you could do, Pastures, is record the first couple of bars of the closing theme to Eastenders, and then play it at megaphone decibels, on a loop, over the car park area.

They might get doofed off with it and go inside.

    :D

Oh Sue, so sad to hear of this horrible episode. Once again your resilience and coping skills open closed doors for your sons. Well done, you are brilliant. I am full of admiration.

The doofers were on the bikes today ....

I popped out after a bit - nearly ran 2 bikers over trying to exit the area - and when I returned a neighbour was leaving and nearly hit another one on a bike! When the turning/exiting is sooooo tight already and you're watching all your corners and bumpers, to suddenly have a tiny bike whizzing by means you weren't watching that bit that second. You're turning and lining up between two bumpers with 1' either wide, so total width about 7' and a bike shoots straight through the middle of the gap! ... and when they spot a car they tend to wobble and become even more unpredictable! One or more will get run over by somebody one day .... let's hope it's a parent that does the running over as they'd get an "easier ride" over it.
