Joe is getting adventurous now...he 'cooked' beans on toast last night. He's dead chuffed with himself especially as the toast wasn't THAT burnt :rotfl:
I've a "trick" with toasters .... so I don't forget/burn it.
I've set the toaster so it doesn't quite toast before popping up. I then put bread in and push it down and can walk away ... when it pops, I turn it over (they never toast evenly) and put it on again, but I know this time I have to stand there as it's nearly done0 -
DD told me yesterday that she has just exchanged Tesco vouchers for £45 worth of Uber credit. What bad luck!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Worse luck for the 40,000 Uber drivers who have just received 21 days notice of unemployment
Apparently, one of the Black cab firms is doing half price fares today, to celebrate!
It's certainly bad news for the Uber drivers, but in the long run around the same number of drivers will be required. It will remain an employment requiring very long working hours in order to earn a living. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

It was his first real time operating one without help and he declared it lovely even if slightly singed.
May sound like something small to loads of people but he has a phobia about cookers, toasters etc and the thought scared the life out of him as he thinks the kitchen will explode into a fireball. He would just about manage with me encouraging him but it was still a stress out melt down scenario for him.
Weirdly, he knows how to make lots of things and can take you through whole recipes step by step perfectly, he's just petrified of the equipment and the danger (he believes) they present. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I thought they weren't employed by Uber, but self employed people who happen to work for Uber.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I cook everything by little ways I've developed over the years - continually experimenting and expanding a small repertoire.... but it's tough. Even things I "trust" fill me with fear.
I'd love to be able to use the frying pan .... so many/too many fears
I have made some fabulous omelettes and all sorts in the past.
I've always had the fear, in a variety of kitchens over the years... but I have managed to cook sometimes on some cookers. I could use mum/dad's when I was a teenager, but never their one when they moved house 20 years ago. Even being in the room while THEY used it petrified me. I did HAVE to use it a few (petrified) times.
I use the mini oven because I built up experience of that at my parents' house - and therefore some level of confidence. In part this is because it's small and if it catches fire it's possible to lob it in the garden afterwards and forget it happened.... but, even so, if I am cooking something in it for, say, 20 minutes, I do it while standing/watching it, with the door unlocked and I do it for four 5-minute blasts... I am still too petrified to try some foods in it though... but slowly getting round to pushing the boundaries a bit beyond the initial pie/pizzas intended... and the part baked baguettes. Just last month I've cooked toad in the hole in it and quiches. My sausagemeat plait wasn't successful (petrified as there's fat in that, which catches fire in my head) - the failure was the cooking dish, not me... need to do it in a different dish (enamel, not aluminium).
Additionally, I have to keep doing something because if I have done/used something and it was OK ... but then I don't use it for a long time ... I'm back to square one with being petrified.Weirdly, he knows how to make lots of things and can take you through whole recipes step by step perfectly, he's just petrified of the equipment and the danger (he believes) they present.
You can therefore let him know "it's normal ....." .... and it doesn't actually go awayBut, you can find some way to cook/eat something .... and won't die of starvation. For all else, there's pot noodle
