So, you are fixed up for the next six months, at least. What a relief that must be for you.

We're a bit chilly here, as the boiler broke down on Friday. It's 21 years old, and no parts are available.... :(

Do you want to borrow some electric rads? Do you have an immersion/electric shower for hot water?
Next six months and beyond. After six months it goes rolling, so this is "THE address until I buy, or until it doesn't suit me".

    Poor timing on the boiler!

It's "your job", being the man, to get this sorted immediately, without fuss. So we expect to not see you for the rest of the day while you placate the missus, while scratching your head and googling boilers/replacements/costs.

PN I was going to offer you our spare room for xmas, I don't think you would be able to stand us for any longer than that!

Perhaps I should be offering it to Mr and Mrs GDB?!
    I think....

Thanks. We had some electric heaters around, and I just bought an extra one.

The heating stopped on Friday evening. I had previously bought a new immersion heater but hadn't got round to fitting it. So, I fitted that on Saturday. Plus I have ordered a new spare immersion.

Got our local gas fitter coming round to quote for a new boiler this evening. He says he can fit it Monday/Tuesday next week, but he can be rather expensive.

I've taken the faulty circuit boards to the guy in Watford who refurbishes them. He struck me, when I met him, as someone who knows exactly what he's doing.

It takes a bit of luck to do this and survive unhurt.

A driver caused an explosion in his car when he lit a cigarette after spraying air freshener.

He used "excessive" amounts of the aerosol scent before sparking up, according to firefighters.

Gas from the spray ignited, blew out the windscreen and windows and buckled the doors but the man escaped with only minor injuries.

Police said the incident in Halifax on Saturday "could've been worse" and warned people to follow safety advice.

The motorist was in stationary traffic in Fountain Street in the town at about 15:00 GMT on Saturday when the explosion happened.

It was so powerful it caused damage to windows at nearby businesses.

    More stories from Yorkshire
The road was closed while an investigation was carried out by police and the fire service.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the "dramatic" incident was "excessive" air freshener use.

    Other than replace it!

Seriously impressed that you can do this.

As far as I know, nobody has blown up their own car with air freshener before. :)

That's not a quick spray down the vents once a week paired with a mild Febreeze of the carpets whenever it gets hoovered to keep it smelling nice.......

I'd hate to know what he'd been doing to have a car smelling so bad that this happened.............

My guess he was about to go on a hot date and hoped to bring the potential date back to his car!
