New computer is about 6" square and 1" deep.
Old HD is about the same
The new PC could be slipped into a handbag on a night out and not noticed.
The old PC needed a shopping trolley to get it taken to the PC shop today, with me being careful on turns/corners in case the wheel broke off it
It could be fitted into a casing, with some USB lead or something, but that'd cost about £40 or so.... which isn't worth it. I'll just hang onto the whole PC for 20 years until I feel confident I didn't accidentally leave any files on thereAnd/or I might boot it up one day and take another copy and poke around to see if there are any old files dotted around I might've missed the first time.
Just for info, what you need is one of these gubbins costing £10.

It's very easy to open the case of the old PC and remove the hard drive. Honestly! Then you just connect it to the new PC using the above gubbins. It's much easier than you expect.
I have lots of disks lying around from old computers 'just in case' I need the data. I never do, and eventually I hit them with a hammer and throw them away.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I did ask the man at the shop if they had such a beastie, he went off to look it up and said it'd be about £40 ... so I figured £1 for a battery was sufficient for today's needs
Cheers for the link.
I can open the case OK, although it'd jammed today and took two of them to prise it apart.... so it'll be loose now
I doubt I've left any data on the old PC. I do try to be structured, hanging all my created files from one point on a HD, but, every now and again, there's something that decides where it's going + dropping files onto the desktop is sometimes what one does
I had partitioned the old HD, it came out of the factory with a total of 40GB - and, as it was filling up I ended up tossing one lot of data files onto the C: partition, which annoyed me, but I'd hung those directories from one point too. It's just that "you can never be really sure..." a bit like when you're half way to the coast and doubt yourself locking the front door0 -
Nope - you can browse/tether/hotspot on 3G, should get at least 3-6mbps so faster than your current adsl
3g/4g, its much of a muchness, she won't be browsing unless the 3g or 4g signal is decent.
Thats why its important to pick the rihgt network.
Where i am sat i get excellent 4g on one network, the frau can't even get 3g on hers.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
I am delighted to relay the washing instructions for our new food processor.
"Wash all the parts thoroughly (except the motor unit) ...."No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Trying to cancel a TV license isn't easy.
I tried online to do it - and ended up having to fill in a form to send them an email.
This morning I have received a letter from TV Licensing, dated 10 July, thanking me for renewing my license, I am covered to 31 July 2020.
I applied for a cancellation on 16 July; their email in response to that is they do things within 5 working days ... so that'll be next week. Their email kindly "reminds" me that I can manage my account online.
What a palaver.
EDIT: Oh, hang on, there's another email they have cancelled my direct debit. They tell me I'm covered until 31 July 2020 - and can go to /refund to get a refund
More palaver.
Now I know the dates I'll let it run until I know more..... WDYTYA is starting this week, so I'd like to watch that for awhile.
EDIT 2: Hang on, if they've cancelled my direct debit then my license will stop won't it...as I'll not be paying. How confusing.
More palaver to think about.
Thoroughly and utterly confused now.
Have I cancelled it? At what date? *shakes head in bemusement at confusion*
I guess I'm covered to the end of 31 July 2019 as they work in whole months don't they ....
I think I kind of give up....
EDIT 3: I've let it sink in a bit now. I've definitely paid to end of July 2019. I need to find look at the DD date list from the license paperwork and compare that to the current date/s and then check my bank statement to see if I've stopped the DD before it starts paying for August, or if I've also paid Aug 2019 as the DD had gone out before they cancelled it.
I'll do that in a bit..... can't face it now.0 -

Greetings Inspector, I've been keeping up to date with what Daisy has been up to on Facebook. I'm really impressed with her artwork and her positive attitude. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
