New HSBC debit card 2% cashback scheme from 1 July

While I am happy to have the cashback I really don't understand why HSBC has to apply a separate cashback payment for every transaction - often for 2 or 3p for example. Why not do what other banks do and pay cashback as one lump sum at month end?
I am ending up with loads of credits for tiny amounts - which just messy and makes it harder to follow bigger transactions.
HSBC - surely this can't be efficient?0 -
Tried it for Ratesetter, needed to test the rolling market for a theory, anyhow - so not wasted either way.0

It doesn't seem to be HSBC. They are using the visa promotional offers system. I've a card registered with it from Nationwide and it does the same - pays out a few days after the transaction. I once received a 10% payment on a £300 tablet purchased from Argos, without knowing the offer was there.0 -
Just been searching for this as I have had this plop into my junk box.

According to whois the domain visaoffers.eu is registered to markmonitor.com in Indiana. I suspect it is in your junk box because it is spam and has absolutely nothing to do with HSBC. I may be wrong, but you should not be giving any of your card details to this organisation.
I have heard nothing from HSBC about their cashback scheme and have not received any cashbacks myself. It does appear to be an offer for selected customers.0 -
These are different schemes. The debit card offer gives 2% on spend up to £500 per month. It was only offered to specific people, apparently those not spending on their account.
I don't have their credit card, but those one-off offers seem to be a feature of a lot of credit cards. I get regular offers from Nationwide, Santander and Halifax.0 -

A few people on this forum have reported they received cashback on their account. It seems this is for targeted customers. I have AC with HSBC over ten years but I have not received this offer either.0 -

You are wrong. markmonitor is the registrar and not the registrant.
If you do a WHOIS request you'll get...Domain: visaoffers.eu
Registrant:
NOT DISCLOSED!
Visit www.eurid.eu for webbased whois.

This shows the domain is registered to "Visa International Service Association"
Of course this registration information is not normally verified so is of little value anyway however the nameservers match other VISA sites.0 -
!!!!!!! It looked legit to me! As it used Mrs C rather than dear customer. Should I bet contacting HSBC and making them aware if this is potential spam/scam?0
