Virgin mobile contracts

Took out Virgin mobile contract end of May 2016. Separate bill for service and credit agreement bill to purchase handset. Two year contract - OK! But recently had couple of issues with handset which were one week after 12 months into contract and was told warranty for handset only 12 months. I was not told this at point of sale and not obvious in terms and conditions or any e mails Virgin sent me. Apparently Apple I phones only have manufacturers 12 month warranty whereas if you have 2 year contract with Virgin on Samsung or other the warranty is 2 years! I was not told that at point of sale either! Seems if anything does go wrong with phone in next 12 months it has to be sent for repair at my cost or I buy myself out of credit agreement and have a new phone! Anybody else know this?...

Pretty standard. Apple offer extended warranties which also cover damage and faults (but not loss). It is up to the purchaser to decide whether to take it up. Your legal rights are no different, and the length of your phone contract has no relevance to the length of the warranty.

The Samsung warranty is limited by their terms and strict conditions and has nothing to do with your consumer rights against the vendor .

It's pretty common knowledge and doesn't say much for apple's faith in their workmanship. The service aspect of your agreement is a 30 day rolling contract, it was your unfortunate decision to choose a handset from a manufacturer which only backs it's handsets for 12 months.
