Morning all :hello:
Wound update: It's still swollen and painful but my arm doesn't feel swollen like it did yesterday. I'm pretty sure I have cleansed all the dirt out and sprayed it again with the antiseptic stuff.
It's almost impossible keeping it dry though even though I need to. An excuse not to clean I suppose but the pile of washing up is staring at me, but I also can't bend my finger very well so no cleaning for me today
Problems with parents and family are sadly far too common as the stories on here confirm. It's how you deal with them that is important..there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough and protect yourself and your own well being imho
No other news to impart so I shall wish you all a good day and go make a nice cup of coffee

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Still no storms, we did have some slight rain yesterday, not enough to wet the ground.
OH is out in the garden, I will join him shortly to empty the bag of wood chippings thats sitting on the front lawn.
Epic housekeeping fail this month £21.21 over budget. I need to get back to making a proper menu list and sticking to it. Although I have to admit I did not check properly before doing the shopping at the beginning of June. We have eaten a lot of salad since it has been so hot, so I have plenty of meat in the freezer, will do an audit either today or tomorrow. I am hoping not to have to go shopping at all this coming week.
Drs yesterday, he was happy with my BP although he took it 3 times and again got a different result each time......back in 6 months unless I need a check for anything else. Letter from the consultant yesterday, next month appointment cancelled, no new date. Its almost a year since I saw him last, was supposed to see him after my MRI scan which was months ago now.
Time to go and give OH a hand with the chippings........0 -
Morning all
Been raining here this morning but its much cooler which is bliss, its meant to brighten up later though.
Just after I posted re the trapped bird yesterday there was a great commotion and flapping of wings and little dog growling's, the pigeon had made its escape down the chimney and into out study and had shocked the life out of Evie who happened to be walking through, there was then a moment of pure panic on the dogs and birds part while they chased each other round, we eventfully grabbed the dog, opened the window wide and the bird flew out! We are going to get a cap put on the chimney ! I be the bird is out there telling his mates of his adventures !!
Going to have a quick tidy round this morning I have a wash on the go but it will have to go on the airer as its raining.
Need to dash to the shops for a few bits, we need bread and milk and more salad bits.
Have good days all xx
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to MeanMarie, have a fabby day xx0 -
Afternoon all,
No but i'm tempted. Might help me sleep better. I'm not sure if its a combination of hubby lying next to me, a hound who periodically needs to go out between 2 and 3am or my bladder. It takes me ages to go back to sleep once ive been woken.JUDI re the soap in bed trick. I recently read that lavender scented soap works best. Have you tried that?
Hubby did sleep better last night thankfully. Once again, thanks for the tips about scraping the soap. To be honest, i gave up scraping and cut them instead. I now how have 3 a little smaller square blocks of soap and our bed smells of soap again. I did get a moan about where i placed them (right where his bum goes apparently) but told to stop moaning and move them himself.... jeez, he ought to be thanking me for discovering this gem of information not moaning about where i put them.
Had a message from Prodigal last night via Facebook. He thinks he has IBS and he is now in a shelter for the Homeless. At least he's got a roof over his head (for now).
Just returned from the bank via M&S. Needed some cheap cotton t shirts. I dont know if its my age or what but man made fibres make me itch. 3 cotton t shirts at £7.50 each will do me but oh the Makeup department had had a revamp..... i could have spent a fortune!
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I've had a very lazy morning after a fairly uncomfortable night with my toe aching after I managed to catch it in the runner on my rocking chair and tilt my full weight on it!. That said although it is swollen and bruised I'm fairly sure it's not broken as I can wiggle it . My younger son is making a curry banquet for a crowd of us tonight and I get to sit back and drink wine . I'm now the delighted owner of a dehydrator - I've wanted one for ages so looking forward to using it.
I hope everyone has a good day x0 -
I'm lying on the sofa doing sfa...tis bliss

I had a senior moment earlier. Put a slice of bread in the toaster, went to do something else whilst it toasted. After a while I thought that toast is taking ages it still hasn't popped up!
Went to investigate and it would seem I hadn't 'popped' it down in the first place!
I'm seriously losing the plot :rotfl:'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Afternoon
I have a mother who is 'difficult', she is now in a care home.
Before going into the home I visited her every day, she was demanding, ungrateful and often just nasty to me.
My DH was always understanding and supportive.
I always thought DH and I would have time for ourselves later, but sadly that cannot happen as we had planned, DH has been diagnosed with mixed dementia, Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia
So my advice is don't forget the ones who really love you, we only have one life.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -

I would be tempted to suggest another place to put the soap
and he would not like it!!!
Just found out that the "shrub" in the front garden has produced shoots that look like a bird of paradise :j neighbour who has been here for years says she has never seen that plant bloom before so fingers crossed.
DD and sil stayed over last night and loved the beef and mushroom pie. Made them a sausage butty for breakfast before they set off for the weekend leaving me their cat to look after.
It looks as if there will be five of us for late lunch tomorrow so have been out to get the ingredients for chicken and tarragon pots, green veg and potato wedges.
karcher
Take care of that finger as the infection sounds nasty.
silver-oldie
We thought the same thing but I am just glad I got dh to retire early and he had a few years of enjoying the garden, the new house and the chickens etc. Enjoy the moment.
Having a pork steak and coleslaw later as I wanted something simple and just had a couple of fruit scones (one of the five a day do you think as they have fruit in them?)

Afternoon all
I spent most of the morning in the garden cutting the hedge in the back garden, with the help of DH. Why is it that I have to start something before he takes over ? Don't think he realises that's been my plan all the time ( mahwahhaha ) :rotfl:.
Well the weatherman got it wrong as it's sunny and hot again, not cloudy and showery ! 23 degrees is more manageable, although the fan is on once more.
I am going to have a look on the web for instructions on how to make a fleece snood. I have some spare fleece material and want to be ready for the winter. I know how I would make it but someone else may have a better idea.
Just waiting for the DW to finish, then off to make tea. I found some cooked pork loin in the freezer and some sad looking mushrooms and half a yellow pepper in the fridge. Will concoct some sort of chinese style pork dish and have it with rice.
Nelski seems this book will be turning into a series of books !
Elona thanks you reminded me I have some cherry scones in the freezer. I think they do count as one of your 5 a day !
Hugs to allFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Crackered....finished putting a 2" layer of wood chip on the front garden and have dragged the remaining half a bag round to the back, it can go on the paths when I have enough strength to shovel it into the barrow. The bag was bigger than the previous one......
Supper ready macaroni cheese needs to go in the oven to brown, jacket spuds, tomato and celery salad, strawberries for dessert, OH has taken the net off the strawberries whats left are too small to pick so the birds can have them, a bowl of rasps in the fridge.........
Going to relax with the feet up and watch the rest of the racing and fashions..........0
