Resort fee Vegas

So i recently stayed at the Luxor for a week. A deposit was taken on my card when i checked in, this pre-authorisation has dropped off my pending balance now, and was told the resort fee would be taken on the card i provided once i checked out. This was a few days ago now and still nothing been taken or showing on my pending transactions.

Anyone had experience and know how soon they take the resort fee?

Are you sure they did not take it when you checked in?
Last time I stayed there they did this to us.

On the last day I used the remote on the tv to check our bill and it had already been paid.

Nope. They took a deposit but said this was just a preauthorisation (it was hence it falling off my pending transactions after a few days). I asked about the resort fee and they said its taken at checkout

Anyway day of checkout i looked at my bill on the tv. Resort fee was on there and owed 260 odd dollars which was correct. Did the TV checkout and left. I assumed they would use my card on file to pay the bill but so far nothing

Are you saying they havent charged you anything? or they havent charged you the resort fee.

I pay the total bill on checkout but always book direct, guessing you may have prepaid through a third party.

looks like they may have forgotten to charge you as the charge should appear straight away.

Hotel was booked along time ago through Thomas Cook. The "room" was prepaid for. Day of checkout i went to do it on the TV, viewed me bill and 8 days of resort fees were on there ($260 dollars roughly). As the bill was correct i checked out on the TV and left. They had my card on file so assumed they would take the resort fee not long after.

However that was Thursday....Im going to have to keep enough money in my account incase they realise

Transactions drop off the pending list after around 5 days.

So if they put a hold at the beginning then it wouldn't show as pending when you checked out, but would be processed and simply come out of the account after a couple of days.

Banks assume if a transaction doesn't come out after a few days, then it won't come out and they remove the pending hold, but the transaction can still be completed (for up to 6 months I believe). This is because not all companies cancel a hold for a deposit.

Yea thought as much. Seems doing it this way around (pre-authorisation then taken the resort fee out of that) has stopped any international transaction charges banks put onto debit transactions.

Paid for luggage on an internal flight on my card and was charged the usual international transaction charge, but the resort fee has come out without any of those charges applied

Does it show on your account as a transaction in USD? It could be that the hotel (naughty naughty) performed DCC and charged you in GBP (taking a fee of their own via a markup).

Just shows as "Luxor front desk" and the amount in pounds. No mention of USD. When i gave them the deposit, they asked how i would like to pay on my card (USD or Pounds). Not thinking i just selected Pounds Sterling, so maybe this is why?
