Does anyone know which brand of socket has the largest terminals?
I am replacing all existing and one needs to accept older stranded wires which will not fit into the socket that I have bought.

I've had a similar issue and found that crafted has bigger round terminals. To be honest, I would probably shoelace crimp the connections next time as the multi core cable is a pain!0

MK Logic Plus (their standard white range) will accept
3 x 2.5mm2
3 x 4mm2
2 x 6mm2
so should accommodate anything you're likely to have wired your sockets in. A lot of brands seem unable to accept even 3 x 2.5mm2.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
If you can’t fit cables in standard socket I’d really question your competent enough to know if there correct to start with or too change them?,, Money saving shouldn't be life endangering....Does anyone know which brand of socket has the largest terminals?

You clearly have absolutely no understanding of the issue to which I refer.
I know exactly what I am doing but it seems I have to explain the difficulty in really simple terms for you.
The terminals in the brand of socket which I bought are not big enough to accommodate the wires which have (WITH STUDIOUS ATTENTION) to go into them.
The two helpful replies before yours should point you in the right direction.
They understood.

Th issue is about being competent... Size is same irrespective if single or multicore common sense, skill, judgement and practical ability is whats lacking multi strand will fit into any uk spec outlet safely and correctly .... you or others not being able to fit it says more about ability than anything else:rotfl:You clearly have absolutely no understanding of the issue to which I refer.

Then they don't comply with BS 1363, as this is a requirement.Owain_Moneysaver wrote: »A lot of brands seem unable to accept even 3 x 2.5mm2.0 -

Well, really my point is that if you can't fit 3 * 2.5mm^2 in a BS 1363 socket outlet then you are doing something wrong. I would have to agree with brightontraveller that it raises questions about competence.Owain_Moneysaver wrote: »Nothing would surprise me.0 -

There are three old cables to fit into the new socket.
The terminals are not big enough to take them even with all your apparent competence , common sense , skill , judgement and practical ability.
New metric cables are in fact slightly smaller than their Imperial equivalents. But you did not know this.
Have you considered how insulting your comments are, particularly when you have no idea of my background.Forgotten but not gone.0
