Does anyone know which brand of socket has the largest terminals? I am replacing all existing and one needs to accept older stranded wires which will not fit into the socket that I have bought.

Seriously though, if you've got a system with cables that old, you might want to consider rewiring it the fairly near future. Some of the PVC insulation on those cables was a bit prone to going hard and cracking.
