Does anyone know if o2 online payg phones come unlocked?

Title says it all really, I did phone and ask o2, they said yes, but I'm hoping for confirmation from someone who's already purchased one. The phone is to be used on 02, I just prefer unbranded phones, the software they put on them just annoys me lol

Have you bought a payg phone from o2 online? I was really hoping the info I was given was correct. I know the contract phones are unlocked as I've had a contract with them a few years. But I was hoping the o2 online phones might be unlocked too, given I'd assume they come from the same stock as the contract ones, but just have a payg sim with them instead.

out of interest, my contract phone developed a fault so i got it exchanged and it came locked - perhaps they were using their payg stock
