Think I installed that once a long time ago, it was worse than actually having a virus.
It sort of is a virus, because it needs to act like one in order to do what it is supposed to do.
Real viruses don't want you to know that you've been infected, so the authors want to make them as efficient as possible; the authors of Rapport have no incentive to do anything like that since they are collecting money from big organisations that don't actually use their software!0 -
It would be interesting to know the split between losses caused by infected customer PCs vs. social engineering, phishing etc. I'd guess the latter is more prevalent now.0

Requested the card and reader twice via Internet banking...once about two weeks ago and once saturday.. Do I have any chance of receiving it?
Is it best to just call them and request it?0 -
It took three weeks for the Card Reader and PIN to arrive (on the same day) and the Card still hasn't arrived. It's the usual "unprecedented demand" blah blah blah. Meanwhile they're holding my money hostage.0

Well seems I'm not the only one having "issues" with opening the E saver account at UB.
What annoys me, having opened many on-line savings accounts over the years, is how long, drawn out and totally shambolic the procedure is! Within a week (usually a lot less) my other accounts have been up and running.
The marketing of this account is extremely misleading and certainly implies that you can open this account almost immediately!
Like others on here I duly filled in the on-line form, giving my bank card details and my passport details. Then I was told I would have to wait for verification. A few days later I received a further email requesting a photo of my passport details, duly done on line, with a note on the email saying that after this my account would be opened within ONE WORKING DAY!
Two days later, I had heard nothing so phoned UB to be told I needed to wait for forms in the post and a signature!! Then by all accounts, I would have to wait up to 4 weeks for cards and card reader to arrive!!
I am very angry that UB are obviously not set up for such an account and, reading here, there seems to be no definite procedure.
I phoned UB to complain about their misleading advice, only to have the phone put down on me by a very rude person.
Misleading info and rude CS. So glad I never deposited any money, though never had an option to get that far after 2 weeks!
I shall be contacting the FOS.0 -
I guess I must have been lucky.:)
My card and reader arrived within about a fortnight of ordering. I've activated the card, and set up a payee. So I'm happy(ish).
My sympathies are with those who have not been so fortunate.0 -

Can I ask were you already a member of UB, RBS or associated bank? And what procedure did you use, on-line or going into branch?
What verification was needed?0 -
I'm still waiting for a response to my complaint & for any of the card/reader/pin nonsense to arrive!
Two weeks may not be as long as many have had to wait, but is still an absolute joke for an online account!
I've subsequently opened an account with another bank & the application was slick, confirmation emails arrived immediately, card & pin within 3-4 days, including a weekend. That's how it's meant to be done, not the festival of incompetence offered by Ulster Bank...0 -

My sympathies. Yes for an on-line account it would have been quicker to have taken a plane to NI and opened in branch!
And all this for 1.25% interest.
I have also opened a slightly lower rate account, elsewhere, but had none of the hassle!0 -
As a follow up to my earlier post regarding my sister in laws experience with Ulster Bank.
I also applied for an account, I am nearly a month in and today managed to open an account. Now the wait for the card reader.
The way the opening application process seems to be random and how they ask for information -in my sister in laws case they asked for debit card and passport details, then later for a scan of the passport.
I was only asked for a scan of the passports. Information being sent out by UB seems to be a mixture of e-mail, txts and or by letter.
Also opened an account elsewhere with a slightly lower interest rate but without any of this hassle.0
