Do you already have an account with Littlewoods which your daughter bought the shoes through?

If that is the case then the order would go through as an order on the account and similarly the payment would be credited to the account and then to the purchase of the goods.

That is not the same as buying it outright from a company.

Hi
Thank you for the reply but that is not the issue. My daughter does have an account with a small, up to date balance.
The issue is she ordered shoes-not on credit terms.
Payment in full for this one item was taken.
Shoes returned within 14 days, notification of return received.
Refund refused, and the £33 kept as a credit on to the account.
Littlewoods return policy:

Your Right To Cancel Your Order under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations.
If you cancel, we will reimburse any payment received, including the standard delivery charge, by the original means of payment. Where the goods have been delivered, the reimbursement will be made within 14 days of us receiving the goods back or us receiving evidence that you have returned the goods, whichever is earlier.

You really need to find out exactly how the purchase was made, you mention both debit card payment and direct debit but they are two completely different payment types. If it was a debit canard payment made directly for the goods then the money should be refunded to the debit card.

If however the purchase was made on an account (it is still a credit account even though it is payment in full rather than spreading the cost, particularly on such a low value item which may be below the normal minimum payment value which is why the full amount was taken) and the credit on the account was then cleared in full by a direct debit payment then they are correct that the account credit is the correct form of refund. It certainly sounds more like is is the account held considering the account has been used previously and there is talk of credit and arrears, that wouldn't happen with an upfront payment method.

There does certainly seem to be some confusion your end about what type if account is actually held. Littlewoods are a very longstanding company dealing with these sort of accounts for decades and there are very few complaints about account errors, if they were doing something wrong in the way they were handling accounts the forum would be rife with complaints about it which would suggest that what has happened here is either a one off error on their part or a misunderstanding of the account type on your part.

Paying in full does not mean the order is not through your account. IT is an option for paying.

If she logged into her account then ordered the order will be through her account.
• Littlewoods are technically Very and trust me there are thousands of complaints online about them

I have both a Very and littlewoods credit accounts and can confirm there is no minimum spend to use credit and there is also a pay in full option so it doesn't use credit on the account

When you pay in full it shows up as paid by card in your account and 'amount not due'
If the order was definitely paid by card the refund should go back to the payment method.
You say originally that she wanted to and first thought she had paid on account which is the easiest way as it's the biggest button to confirm the order

To pay in full now you need to choose a smaller button further down and it will take you to a different page to process your card details
check your online statement to see exactly how it was paid

You can also chat live with them and request a copy of the transcript afterwards as proof

Hope this helps!
