Yay we had a few spots of rain , didn't last long:) but at least the air is a bit fresher, and a nice breeze is blowing. Bit of thunder and lightning as well, but not enough to stress DDs dogs at all. Henry was a good lad this morning and mowed his Mum's lawn by the time I got there at lunchtime.

I took him to B&Qs and treated him to a new black-out blind that he wanted for his bedroom as the light wakes him up in the morning. Not a bad price either at under £12 for a roller type one.

He is really good in his bedroom and keeps it tidy, and hates any mess at all I think its because he has grown up in a large family and it can get a bit untidy with the rest of his brothers, and his own room is his personal space, until his older brother Ben went to Uni, he had to share with his other brother Jack, who is very untidy :), and he even saved up and bought the desk he wanted for his lap-top and computer games console .

A very tidy chap at heart and will help me out when I start doing the tidying up in their house . Actually the two small dogs seem to make more mess than the boys nowadays, especially the new little one who isn'tmuch more than a puppy.

elona I have got around my arm problem in the heat by using a large floaty type scarf as a shrug which helps .Just going to take henry swimming shortly so we both can cool down a bit :)

Judi it must be such a worry for you and I hope things get better for you, no matter how old they are, your children are always a worry when things don't go right for them, so cling on to the good bits and ignore the bad if you can.

    Cheers chums JackieO xx

After many ignored requests to the cleaning crew at work I went to the ladies today and cleaned it to my satisfaction.
Got caught by the head who asked why I was doing it and not the cleaners, so I explained that they had allegedly cleaned the place but that I wasn't happy with their efforts!

Evening all, went to work early as had stuff to do and was meant to have the afternoon offski but that didn't really happen, though got away early.

House now absolute tip what with DS and his luggage and whole suitcase full of horrid snacks.

I have achy feet but a nice glass of cold white wine. We have had no rain but it has been cool and breezy, lovely. The sun has just come out.

Nelski, I am a demon proofreader if you get your book written, I am, apparently, known at work for my meticulous checking. You wouldn't know that here since I don't fuss too much about grammar or autogetitwrong on here.

Judi, I think of you and prodigal so often.

I have been wondering about Lame Wolf, hope she is ok.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Evening everyone.
    Rant alert !
Well dad's just gone home. Tonight he was a complete and utter misery guts, don't get me wrong I love my dad, because he's MY dad, but sometimes I just wish I hadn't bothered to ask him to come . He didn't want much of his tea as he wasn't hungry, no because he'd had a big pasty about 2 hrs before and the ice cream wasn't " proper ice cream ". It seems that none of us has ever amounted to anything, not me, nor DH nor DD, but DD's DH and family are all bl00dy geniuses ! ( I'm proud of what my DH and DD have achieved and neither of them are stupid, far from it. ) I'm used to this attitude but DH and DD don't deserve it.
Sorry for that, but Nelski I just wanted to say that you are not alone.
Judi I'm sorry that you no longer have your little boy and I wish I had a magic wand that would take all the hurt and sadness away from everyone. ( me included )
Right I'm off now to lie down in a darkened room.
    Hopefully "see you tomorrow"

    Hi Nelski,
Definition - 'Improper ice cream' - I had the audacity to offer a "cornetto" type ice cream from Al*i and not the real thing ! Didn't stop him from eating it though, it just wasn't good enough. However DH and I enjoyed it :).
I would love to help you and Karcher write your book, although some of my stories may not be on the nice side. However since my mum passed away my eyes have been opened as to how I have been thought of. e.g. wouldn't pass my 11+ exams for a start, not clever enough ! Boo sucks to that because I did :rotfl:. I think that my mum had her job cut out just keeping him in check and now the brakes are off big time.
Never mind as DH says "don't let the b**gers grind you down" but it does hurt and I don't think my dad even realises.
At least I have my wonderful DH and my lovely DD and her family, 'cause otherwise I think I would have had my head in the gas oven before now .
Thank you for caring and don't forget it is reciprocated, and I'm here for you at anytime.

    Oh dear, hugs all round!

I suspect that the majority of families are dysfunctional in private with 'normal' facades in public. Mine certainly was / is. Only my DM and me left now and she's elderly and increasingly frail, when she was younger she was fierce, demanding and unyielding. My tales are many and unedifying and there were times when my over-riding emotion towards her was close to hate. As I grew and learnt more about her and her early years I could see the root of her behaviour as understand, but never let her off with it. Now she's mellowing!

I had a nice drive down here. Got fishy stuff for DM which always makes her happy. We've faffed about with the TV in the newly organised spare room, it's now too far away and too small. Not like Father Ted's cows!! So, tomorrow it'll be a new TV and more rearranging of furniture. One day it'll be right, perhaps that day will be tomorrow.

I'll jump on the bandwagon, my mum was very slim, glamourous and vivacious. I was a sad disappointment being short, fat and totally uninterested in fashion/makeup/hair styles.
Unfortunately I take after my dad's side of the family in looks!
