im confused you keep contradicting yourself
look back on all your posts and you will see why?
the permit to travel machines were taken away to stop fare dodgers paying 5p for their journey, and remember you can take time out of your busy' i cant be bothered to buy a ticket' life and appeal to the independant appeals service.which is not swt.
  • womble100 - let me try & clear your confusion over this for you.

At no point have I said I have a life which which gives me the authority not to have to buy a ticket for my rail journeys.

Look back at my posts, & I've already mentioned that before this occasion, I had never boarded a train before without a valid ticket. If you don't believe that, there's not much else I can do about that.

And since I have described in detail my efforts to buy a ticket on the day, a permit machine located at the station would have at least given the inspector at Datchet some indication that I hadn't got onto the train without making any effort at all.

Personally speaking, having a couple of the guys that SWT had in force at Datchet station that day actually selling tickets to people at stations further-up the line would have made it that much easier for me to buy a ticket. But then (with my cynical hat on), that's too easy a solution.

A fellow Moneysaver forwarded an extract of the T's & C's to me here - please see my response :

My original conclusion was based on what other's experiences/thoughts had been here, & information I've been able to find out elsewhere on the web.

So, I hope your confusion has now been stemmed.
