Credit card rewards - which one?

in Credit cards
I am having surgery in September privately. It will cost around £6000. I have saved up so have the cash but I was thinking that if I paid on credit card I would enjoy the benefit of any rewards. I have a Tesco Clubcard credit card and could pay for surgery half one month, second half the following month so will stay in my £5000 credit limit.
But is this good? Should I use a different card i.e apply for another one that would give better benefits? I enjoy travelling and eating out!!
Thanks for any replies.

What benefits do you like?
Which cards do they accept?0 -
The paperwork just states credit cards so I will probably need to check as some don't accept Amex etc.
I like to travel, have an Avios account, eating out, trips away etc.0 -
Decide what benefits you the most, link below:

I checked with hospital and they take all cards including Amex. I may just use my Tesco Clubcard credit card but will check out the rewards on the link.0

Do they charge a fee / percentage surcharge for using a credit card ? If they do, then this may negate any benefits you receive. It may still be worth it, but you just need to check and do the sums.0

No there aren't any fees or extra charges. So not worried about that.0

I'd recommend the Amex Preferred Rewards Gold card, if they'll take it with no fee.
You pay no annual fee in the first year, and on spending GBP2,000 in the first three months, would get 20,000 bonus Membership Rewards points. On top of the 6,000 you'd get from spending, you could convert these to 26,000 Avios (or other airline miles), which could be beneficial if you like travel. This is the best use of MR points (~1p per point value), but you can use them for statement credits (about 0.4p per points), Amazon purchases (0.45p per points) and various other things.0 -
Thank you. That would be perfect as I travel to Spain a lot and have an Avios account. Only 5000 left on it so 26,000 would be a great top up. So you get 20,000 as a new membership bonus and 6,000 for spending £6,000? Sounds perfect. Thanks again.0

And a couple of airport lounge passes ...0 -

Yes, that's it, and the lounge passes as Peacefulwaters mentions, you'll automatically receive a lounge club card in the post, it takes about a week after you receive the Amex card.
You can get an extra 2,000 (22,000 total) if you're referred by an existing cardholder - plenty of referral links floating around on here, so I'm sure someone would be happy to send you one (I also could, I still have my UK gold card, but as a disclaimer - referrer also gets 9,000 MR points!).
